I used a 1.5k but the 2 should work.. I also have a 68 on d- as well as d+ I have seen some strange voltages myself but as mush as I though that would be an issue it never was. Did you try the usbavr-driver-and-examples . This is how I fix my problem. I download them and made the code / fuse / and diod changes. Once that worked I start to eliminate until I found it was a bad driver file.
