Hi all
Please, I need your help determing why my PC recognises Igor Cesko's custom build IR as "unknown device"
I've paid some guy to build it for me and he did it by Igor's scheme. Here's the scheme:

(Heres the link for Igor's page, but it's working lousy lately)
http://www.cesko.host.sk/IgorPlugUSB/Ig ... USB%20(AVR)_eng.htm

Here are the pictures of my IR:
Front:

Back:

Problem is when I plug IR in usb, I get message that it's unknown device and Windows don't even ask for drivers... In system manager, under USB section, the unknown device is listed but I cant force installation of drivers on it..
So question ism whats different on the scheme on Igors page and on my IR?

I've found a simmilar thread on this forum, but solution is not explained

My PC spec:
Intel CD2 E2180
Gigabyte P35C DS3R mbo
WinXP SP2

Here's the spec. of hardware in my IR:
micro controller: ATMEL ATTINY2313-20PU

"Unknown Device" usually means that you have no USB communication at all. Did you flash the fuse values correctly?

Some guy made that for me...

problem is that after reinstall of windows, everything worked OK, but after another reinstall this started to happen

Also, Igor sent me response on my email, saying that I should read his FAQ in wich says:
"Q: After device plugin into USB port is the device not recognized - recognized only as "Unknown USB device".
A1: Problem of bad device detection is in hardware. In schematic you must add series resistors into USB data lines - see schematic on my website. You can increase the resistors from 68R up to 330R. And additionally you can connect Zener diodes (3.6V) to USB D+ and D- data lines. Problem appears mainly on notebooks and new computers. Usually is there no problem when you plug device into external USB hub. Problem is caused by high voltage coming from microcontroller to USB lines - allowed max. 3.6V (input current into computer USB port).
A2: If you are using ATtiny2313 you must set fuses during programming: disable division the external clock by 4 and enable high speed XTALL."

I guess this is my answer, but, I dunno now what to do - a guy which made that IR for me did it exactly by scheme on Igors page, so I'll have to pay him again to fix this (cause it isn't his fault that I need upgrade of my IR)...

First try various hosts. If it works on other hosts, you should add the zener diodes. You can probably do this yourself, it's not hard.

Since you say the device did work previously, the fuse values must be OK.

I have make this system whitout IR part and it works really good, but I want to know what I can develop whit it , other that led, e.g a smaller DC motor or a led matrix or a temperatur sensor. If I want to develop this other parts, must I modify the Igor's firmware or I can with it. Also I make an other interface, What must I do ?

Don't pay him 15$ for this!

As FAQ says; you should only replace two blue resistors with two "stronger ones". Lets say with 200 Ohms (these blue ones are 6Cool. Ask some friend to do this.
