Device Cannot Start

Post by wireframewolf » Sun May 09, 2010 4:43 pm

Hey all. Currently I am trying to get a simple USB keyboard project working. I've taken this project: http://www.obdev.at/products/vusb/prjdetail.php?pid=87 and modified it to use only one button, attached to PD3. When the button is up, the report buffer sent to the computer should be 0. When the button is pressed, it should send an 'A'.

The hardware setup I am using is identical to the metaboard schematic on the obdev wiki here: http://metalab.at/wiki/Metaboard, which includes the use of the Atmega168 and a 16 mhz crystal. I know the hardware set up is okay because I've gotten some of the examples that come with V-USB to work, including the HID mouse example. So I figured it shouldn't be too hard to get a keyboard example working as well.

My problem is that when I plug the device into my Windows machine, it shows up under keyboards in device manager, but with an error: "This device cannot start". I have no idea why that could be, and was hoping maybe someone could point out something wrong with my code, or maybe tell me what they had to do to fix this problem when they ran into it before. Any help is appreciated!
