PSX Digital pad works, DualShock not.

This is not exactly the question about AVR-USB but maybe someone can help me here.
I made a simple PSX to USB adapter. USB communication works nicely. My only problem is getting data from controller. I written the program myself based on the psx pad specifications I found on the web. When I connect some cheap digital controller it works but original Sony DualShock analogue controller doesn't. I connected all controller lines except +7,6V because I thought that it's only needed for vibrations to work but now I'm not so sure. So I'd like to ask if the +7,6V is optional or maybe whether DualShock has any specific communication requirements?
Thanks in advance.
