After installing the prolific driver I downloaded from http://www.wiretek.com.cn/download.asp? ... ei=windows (named USB2.0 TO RS232 Converter), I plugged in the device and got the error USB Device Not Recognized (one of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned...)

I opened device manager and the device shows up as "Unknown Device" under the USB controller tab.

I got the same error on all three computers at my house (all running windows xp pro).
Has anyone else had the same error, or is my device defective? Help would be appreciated.

If you know the type of the usb2uart chip. You'd better download the driver from the http://www.prolific.tw/eng/company.asp website.
