How do I change a launch key

Post by w » Thu Nov 16, 2006 7:38 pm

First of all let me say thanks for the forum.

A long time ago I used, for example, the letter m to launch an application by the name Metro LX.

Recently I purchased Metro SE.

Therefore when I type M Metro LX comes up first and Metro SE below that.

I would like to change the Metro LX to something like MX and create MS for Metro SE.

In all the years of using LaunchBar I've yet to figure out how to make those changes.

As a musician I just don't have the time or patience to yet read another manual.

How can I freeze stop the drop down list and apply hot keys for launching?

I sure need help with this please.

There's an in depth discussion of this topic in the LaunchBar Help, chapter "Abbreviation Search" (especially the section "Training short abbreviations").

In brief, you just have to enter your new, preferred abbreviation (e.g. MS), and select the desired item (in your case "Metro SE") from the search result. If the searched item isn't already shown at the top of the list, use the down arrow key to scroll the list.

When you now open the selected item, LaunchBar automatically associates the used abbreviation (MS) with that item (Metro SE).
