an easy way to share searchtemplates. As it is now I make URL fileclippings, but people don't always now what to do with them. If I could send them a file they could doubleclick and have it installing a LaunchBar search templete it'd be great! Thanks!

I agree. I see a number of Web pages when search for search template ideas, but unfortunately a) not many of them still exist, b) they don't provide the relevant info to make the templates they talk about, and/or c) it's tedious to copy and paste everything. One-click sharing and importing search templates would be really handy.

We have planned some major changes in LaunchBar's search templates architecture, including the ability to easily share templates, to specify per item encodings (to avoid the necessity of having separate indexing rules for each encoding), to declare POST method requests, and more.

Great news, the copy/past introduced in 4.2 makes sharing them a lot easier ! thanks. EDIT: Are these changes planed for the final release of 4.2 or for the Leopard-version?

Has this changed at all in the latest version, 4.3? I’d like to share some search templates, and I’m not seeing an obvious way to do so. I’m specifically trying to post them to a blog.

I also liked the idea another poster had, to use something like an RSS/ATOM feed (maybe like an appcast?) or a Web service (XML-RPC or SOAP) to fetch the latest search templates.

Perhaps doing so at a granular (per-template) level and letting the user accept/decline each one, or all of the updates, would be useful.
