How to search in Javadoc

Post by ashkanr » Mon Nov 16, 2009 2:16 pm

Hi, I have all Java SE documents on my disk. As you know basically there is a single html file (index.html) with links to individual pages about java classes and ... I wanna to search for example java.util.List in launchbar and it opens the corresponding html page in browser. Unfortunately there is no search form built-in index.html so do you have any idea how this should be done?

Thanks

If the index.html file contains properly named links to the individual pages of the documentation, you can create a new Web Bookmarks indexing rule, choosing "Custom HTML Bookmarks File" to instruct LaunchBar to parse all links contained in your index.html file.

You can then access the indexed links by typing abbreviations of their corresponding names.

If you have internet access, you can just use a Google "I'm feeling lucky" search. Add a new search template like this to search the Java 6 docs:

http://www.google.com/search?btnI&q=sit ... 2Fapi%2F+*

Google "Lucky" searches are great for searching lots of online docs. I also use this for searching JavaScript pretty often.

http://www.google.com/search?btnI&q=sit ... illa.org+*

Also searching in online src repositories by Krugle(http://www.krugle.org) may help. I use a search template like this:

Code: Select all

http://www.krugle.org/kse/entfiles/perl/api_find.pl?type=related&stream=scmComments&query=*&partner_id=krugle-select&_kruglecn=krugle-enterprise-local&_krugleca=7ZDmzyblSlksGEn9vQce9LmSh5g3D&_krugleun=anonymous-api-krugle-enterprise&_krugleua=1gmFvOSSLbuvQIxueUHHkRbq7fA3D#1
