HELP for beginner - Syntax

Post by Greyghost » Fri Jul 03, 2009 6:43 pm

Hi, could somebody be so helpful to tell me where I can learn the syntax to create my own search templates? What is the basis/ where can I learn that? I'd like to create some templates to search a couple of forums and my tagged files on my Mac via LB (w/o using Spotlight)?

thanks in advance

The forum search is simple.
Let's take google as example.
You visit www.google.com and you search for pencils.

The address line will change to http://www.google.de/search?q=pencils where pencils is your input.
If you exchange "pencils" with * (asterisk) --> http://www.google.de/search?q=* launchbar will automatically replace the * with your input.
Same principle applies for your forum. It might look like [...]search.php?pencil
Change it to search.php?* and you're fine.

Btw, there's a Search Templates section in LB's Help.

Thank you both. I went through the help before I posted this question - but it gives you just examples. I am rather interested in generating searches for distinct forums which is not always easy to structure since ur redirected automatically to advanced search pages leaving you very much alone with the standard stuff...

thanks nonetheless
