Before purchasing WebYep

Post by mouse1954 » Wed Nov 09, 2011 7:27 pm

I have several websites that I handle that I would like to let them edit certain areas themselves by purchasing several licenses to webyep. The sites are all parked under one main website, hosted by hostmonster. Will there be a problem when purchasing WebYep for each individual site since the are all under one?

Also, I have a photo shopping cart attached to one of my parked sites, will any info I have to upload for webyep interfere with what is already in place for the photostudio?

Hopefully I explained this correctly.

Any input is appreciated.

Regards
Deb

How do you access those individual sites? Is there one common address and every site is located in a different subfolder? E.g. http://www.onedomain.com/site1, http://www.onedomain.com/site2, http://www.onedomain.com/site3.
Or is this only one web space and every single site has a different domain name? E.g. http://www.site1.com, http://www.site2.com, http://www.site3.com

Sorry, but this can't be answered generally. It will depend on what exactly this shopping cart does (and how).
WebYep doesn't interfere with other programs on a web site. It only enables content of static pages to be editable by a user. If you don't augment the shopping cart itself with WebYep (i.e. make some of its content editable with WebYep) then this should work.

Each website has their own domain name and folder under my main acct. The shopping cart is inside one domain, whereas I believe the webyep reside inside each domain name folder, individually. So if I purchase for ddd.com and then again for www.com, they would each have their own webype installed inside each individual folder. Correct? If so, then it seems they will not interfere with each other.

Thanks for any help.

Yes, that's correct. As long as each domain has got its own document root (even if its the same account) WebYep will be fine and won't interfere with other installations.

Also you don't need a license as long as you are evaluating WebYep. You can install it on two test domains (i.e. sub-domains of existing ones), integrate the shopping cart and see how it goes. There shouldn't be any problems with this setup.
