Best MP3 audio player for CMS?

Post by twb716 » Tue Dec 29, 2009 7:17 pm

I am trying to allow my client to add MP3 samples to his page. I would rather not just have a link that opens a new window with javascript. Does anyone know of a good, easy-to-use MP3 player that can be used with WebYep? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi TB,

Using the richtext element you should be able to use any player that is html embeddable. Go for one without javascript if you're looking for the simplest solution with least potential for problems with WIZYWIG editor. A simple embedded flash object will function like a youtube video embed.

For playing just 1 track check out the tutorial here. There are plenty of variations on this so run a search for 'embeddable mp3 player'. 1 Pixel Out have a similar player that I like and have used successfully before located here (scroll down slightly for the demos).

If you need a full playlist there are quite a selection of players, but many use xml playlist and javascript embeds so could be quite a bit harder to embed within a webyep element, although maybe not impossible... perhaps checkout premium beats, and wimpy player (2 popular multitrack players) and see how you go.

Hope this is helpful for you. :-)

Cheers,
Maeve

Thanks so much, Maeve. I am actually already using the 1Pixel Out player, which is why I posted the request initially. When you aren't using Wordpress (like my situation), you have to enter a ton of code and search through it to change paths, etc.. The example code looks like this:

<<<script language="JavaScript" src="http://www.fakedomain.com/myname/audio/audio-player.js"></script>
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="http://www.fakedomain.com/myname/audio/player.swf" id="audioplayer1" height="24" width="290">
<param name="movie" value="http://www.fakedomain.com/myname/audio/player.swf">
<param name="FlashVars" value="playerID=audioplayer1&soundFile=http://www.fakedomain.com/myname/audio/music.mp3">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<param name="menu" value="false">
<param name="wmode" value="transparent">
</object> >>

This isn't really client-friendly, especially when you've sold your services to design a CMS. I am wondering if there is a "Shadowbox"-like player that might be able to play 1 track with a certain player based on how a link is styled? Thanks again for your input.

TB
