Requesting Arabic Support for WebYep!

Post by dereenb » Tue May 26, 2009 10:16 am

I love using WebYep - and it would be just perfect if I could also use it for editing Arabic. I work in Egypt and often have websites in both English and Arabic, but can't use WebYep for just the English and tell my clients that they can't edit the Arabic! How hard would it be to offer unicode support?? PLEEAASSEE! :D

Unicode is supported.

Just make sure that:

  • Your pages include the proper meta tag (Content-Type with UTF-8 encoding)
  • In your WebYep config-inc.php the webyep_sCharset is also set to UTF-8
  • You enter all content after all this is set up correctly - changing the encoding config in retrospect is not possible

Thank you for your instructions on the unicode support. Indeed, I am using it with Arabic now. However, I have another follow up inquiry - and that is, that when inputing Arabic text into the popup window editors, the direction of the text is still from left to right - it makes editing very hard. It displays correctly (right to left) once saved, but while editing, it's very hard to do corrections, etc. or to say put bullet points (*) because the insertion point is non-logical. Am I missing another configuration setting?
Thanks again.

Are you using the Rich Text Element or the Long Text Element?

If Rich Text, which WYSIWYG editor are you using - TinyMCE or CKEditor?
