"LaunchBar has detected a problem with your OS X Clipboard"

Postby Adlopa » Fri Jul 26, 2013 4:33 pm

Since a recent update (I can't determine which), I've been getting Clipboard failures. Nothing I copy is stored in LaunchBar and I get the error:

"LaunchBar has detected a problem with your OS X Clipboard. It’s recommeded [sic] to log out and log back in to resolve this issue."

This is a recent occurrence and is a big pain in the bum. Any ideas what's going on?

LaunchBar 5.5.2
OS X 10.8.4

Have you submitted a bug report about that? This forum is relatively inactive and replies from ObjDev staff are rare.

Btw, I'm clueless what might be causing your clipboard-related trouble and don't use LB's clipboard feature.

And welcome to the LB (sub)forums, Adlopa, even if mostly idle nowadays. :)

Well, my first question would be if you followed the advice and logged out of your user account or rebooted your machine. Never had an issue with the clipboard feature

I have been getting these clipboard failures often on both my work and my home machine.

If you hear anything about a fix for this (other than logging out or rebooting, which is often not possible for me due to background number crunching), I'd love to hear it.

Thanks!

vard.

Nope, no news of a fix yet, but here's what the devs told me in response to a bug report:

This is actually a known bug from the NSPasteboard Object in the Application Kit Framework and we implemented the alert window to let the user know what just happened.
Since it its not a LaunchBar issue we are happy about every hint and are also tracking Apple's progress on this bug.
At the moment there is no known workaround or solution for this particular problem.

Please tell us if you found a way to reproduce this issue.

This is happening to me also more and more often and is starting to drive me nuts. I'm not in a position to logout of my account every time this happens.

I own a licence for both Launchbar and Alfred and when this situation occurs I'm still able to use Alfred's clipboard history without any issue so unless they're using a different NSPasteboard api I can't see how it's not possible to work around this in the same way they do.

15 months later and I am still getting this problem with no sign of fix from obdev. Please can you take a look at this?

Same here, even with Yosemite. Can recommend an alternative to LaunchBar that isn't plagued by this problem? I need something with the multiple clipboard feature...

I just started getting this error also.

The weird thing is that I have the exact same setup on my Mini and MBA and the error only occurs on my Mini. LB Clipboard works fine on my MBA.

I've only just started seeing this error: it's happened a handful of times, and is only resolved by logging out.

I'm using Launchbar 6.5 on OSX 10.10.5, and the issue (probably coincidentally) began after I began using Dejal TimeOut v2.0a27.

Code: Select all

5/11/2015 10:40:46.069 pm LaunchBar[948]: Internal Error: -[NSPasteboard pasteboardWithUniqueName] returned nil

I'm experiencing this problem years later with OS X 10.11. Wondering if it may have to do with VMware fusion also using that api (I suspect it is, it does things with the clipboard).

Yep, it's annoying. :(
