How to associate file extensions with a Category?

Post by sing keyboard sing » Thu Jan 20, 2011 8:39 am

I have a category "Emacs Documents". It shows files with the extension "tex~" and not files with the extension "tex". Both files types are text files. I have another category "TeX Text Files" that shows files with the extension "tex" and not files with the extension "tex~".

I would like to have the "Emacs Documents" category to show both files with extension "tex~" and extension "tex". Is that possible? How can I change which file extensions are associated with a category? Or is it somehow possible to create a new category and define the file extensions that are associated with that category?

Hello,

The categories are related to the file management of MacOS. Possibly a simple solution is the following:

*) Open a folder containing .tex files in your Finder
*) Right-Click select »Open With« and »Other«
*) Select Emacs and check »Always Open With«

Unfortunately I can not ensure that this option will work. Please let me know!
