Context Menu Keyboard Shortcut

Post by a1anm » Sun Jan 17, 2010 4:29 pm

Is there a keyboard shortcut to open the context menu ie. so I don't have to right click the item?

Thanks.

The contextual menu can be opened with Control-Right Arrow.

In case you are using this shortcut for switching spaces, you can also use Command-Control-Right Arrow to open the context menu.

And the gear wheel menu can be opened with Control-Option-Right Arrow.

This is awesome info -- thanks! I've been wondering how to do this for a while ... especially for the app that lets me do everything via the keyboard. Maybe consider putting it in the onscreen Help?

It's already mentioned there
http://www.obdev.at/resources/launchbar ... er=Actions

in the Action Menu section:
This menu can also be opened with Control-Right Arrow or Command-Control-Right Arrow.

It's hard discovering some of the shortcuts that are only mentioned inline with "chattier" help descriptions. Also summarizing them as "<simple description> <shortcut>" (or inverse) items in a quick reference list would be handy.

Is it possible to change the keyboard setting for these shortcuts?

It is nice that there are two different ways to open the contextual menu (either control - right arrow or control-command-right arrow) but is there another way to open the gear menu besides control-option-right arrow?

Nothing found under Preferences > Shortcuts or a visible command to assign it a shortcuts under Systems Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard Shortcuts.

Btw, LB documents both an "action menu" and a "gear wheel menu". I've always thought the former was Apple's official name for the latter, e.g. item #3 in Mac Basics: The Finder. Would it be more accurate to call LB's action menu a context(ual) menu?
