Desired: Integration with del.icio.us Firefox extension

Hello all,

I'm using Firefox with the del.icio.us Bookmarks extension. It adds in-browser integration with my delicious bookmarks and tags, and does this quite nicely. However, to my knowledge there is no way to access this data with LaunchBar. Is there any way—or could there be—to access my delicious bookmarks and tags through LaunchBar? Although delicious is a web-based service, the extension downloads a local copy of the bookmarks each time it synchronizes with the service.

Thanks for any help with, or new features for, this issue!

Is there really nothing happening in this direction? Launchbar and del.icio.us are the two most important tools for me, and it would be so great to have them interacting...

I use webnotehappy for all my bookmarks, it syncs with delicious. And with the free app 'delicious2safari' I sync my delicious bookmarks with safari

Thanks for this tip!

I've filed a feature request anyway. Maybe we'll add del.icio.us indexing directly to LaunchBar.

If it helps, the bookmarks are kept in the file ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/abcdef.default/delicious.rdf.

I have a solution to this problem, although it involves XSLT and command-line coding. Using this XSL transformation on delicious.rdf gives a standard HTML bookmarks file that LaunchBar can read. I have cron set to generate the HTML file every five minutes, so that LaunchBar always has my newest del.icio.us bookmarks.

Hope this helps somebody! Ideally, the developers could add this to the program...

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" xmlns:NC="http://home.netscape.com/NC-rdf#" version="1.0">

<xsl:output method="xml" omit-xml-declaration="yes"/>

<xsl:template match="/">
        <html>
        <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8"/>
        <dl>
        <xsl:apply-templates/>
        </dl>
        </html>
</xsl:template>

<xsl:template match="//NC:Bookmark">
        <dt><a href="{@NC:URL}"><xsl:value-of select="@NC:Name"/></a></dt>
        <xsl:text>
        </xsl:text>
</xsl:template>

<xsl:template match="text()|@*"/>

</xsl:stylesheet>

thanks

It would pretty easy to get to the tags from the XSL, but I'm not sure how they would be put into the resulting HTML file. I don't think the standard flat-HTML format really supports groupings like tags.

I just started using webnotehappy, I don't suppose it's possible to access those bookmarks directly with Launchbar? I don't know how they're stored locally.

just my 2c for the firefox del.icio.us extension integration in launchbar, which would be a very helpful feature indeed. this is not yet another little extension, but something which many people use as a total local bookmark replacement (i haven't bookmarked anything locally for the last year and a half...)

Count me in on this two. I barely bookmark localy but all in delicious. Quicksilver is still my number 1,5 as I can use my bookmarks and tags from delicious.

I'd love to have a direct launchbar access to del.. no, wait a minute.. I'm using ma.gnolia. However, ma.gnolia uses del.icio.us API, so it shouldn't be that hard to implement it as well (at least it was done in QuickSilver's online bookmarks plug-in).

I created a python script that would grab my bookmarks and save them to a flat file. I then had LaunchBar index that file. I haven't been able to get pyDelicious to work after I switched laptops, but someone might find this useful.

Adding my voice to the requests too.

I also use delicious for all my bookmarking, and would love to see proper integration.
