In the Config window, Bookmarks, Option tab, be able to specify a specific browser to open an individual bookmark - one that overrides the defaulted browser.

Some times a specific site needs to be opened in a certain browser, this would eliminate having to tab and enter the other browser everything.

Please consider.

But this can be handled with an applescript or shell script. All you end up doing is having the script that is named appropriately in the custom list, that opens that url in the specific browser.

If you have the knowledge to do that, fantastic. I'm just looking to graphically extend the power of Launchbar to do this function.

Why not just select the bookmark, hit Tab, and then select the browser you want? Yeah, it's an extra step but still seems pretty easy. I guess it depends on how many of the special bookmarks you have and how often you use them.

Dennis, if you re-read my original post you'll see that I'm already doing exactly what you are recommending.

There is a site that I have to open every day in a specific browser, not my main browser - I'd just love to open it like all my other favorites (via Launchbar) but have it auto-coded to open in the browser of choice.

Ah yes, I see that now. Sorry, I misunderstood your original post.

So what browser is it that you need to use to open this URL? Maybe one of us can help you with a script.

Safari is my main, but have a couple things I have to open in Camino.

I don't use Camino, but this should work, I believe. First open Script Editor. You can find it at:

Then paste in the line below and change the URL to whatever you want.

Code: Select all

tell application "" to open location ""

Then Save the script to some place that's indexed by LaunchBar. A good spot is:

~/Library/Application Support/LaunchBar/Actions/

But it doesn't have to go there.

Now locate the script with LaunchBar, hit return, and Camino should open your desired URL.

Hope this helps.

I agree that a script is certainly a workable workaround, but I also agree with Randy that it would be good to have this functionality baked in — and not just for bookmarks. Generally speaking I crave greater granularity for custom handling of indexed items. Very power user, sure, but LB is a power-user application if there ever was one.

I bet I have at least a couple dozen regularly used index items that I wish I could tell LB to handle differently than the default.
