Show progress when copying/moving files

Post by Jono » Fri Mar 07, 2008 10:10 am

I've noticed that when copying or moving large files to a different location in LaunchBar that it freezes for a while & also shows as 'Not Responding' in Activity Monitor. After a while I realised that it was working (hadn't crashed) & only 'not responding' while it was moving or copying the file. After it's finished it works fine again.

Would it be possible to add a progress bar (or even make the OS display it's own standard progress) when copying & moving files to show that the app hasn't crashed & let you know how long until the action has completed (& when you can resume using LaunchBar).

I'll second this feature request. I think it'd be a really helpful addition.

Right now, I've gone back to using the Finder for most of my file copying and moving until LaunchBar has better support for this.

I'd also like to see LaunchBar prompt for a username and password when copying/moving files without the proper permissions rather than just denying me access. But that's already been discussed in another thread.

I'll third that. Plus the addition of the option to replace a document that already exists, but that's already been discussed as well.

I hate to resurrect an old thread, but I'm really surprised we still don't have this features. It means that I can only use Launchbar for copying very small files. Anything that is going to take any length of time and I have to go and use the Finder to move it, just so I can get a progress bar… Very irritating.

I agree, this would be very nice. I often copy files over my network via LaunchBar and would love to see some sort of progress indicator.

I'll throw my vote in the hat for this feature request. A progress notification is pretty important, especially when cp'ing large files. It would be good enough if the action simply actuated the Finder cp. Optimally, Launchbar could display the progress using the same windows for the index progress info. When Launchbar is activated, the progress window would display.

Ok. It's 2016, still no word on a possible progress bar for copy/move actions. I think the first request is from 2008? Any news on this? This should be a default thing anyone expects to happen should you copy or move something. Please!

+1 for this! I do love Launchbar, but with all due respect to the devs, I feel like responsiveness to user requests is not as good as it could be: Alfred seems a little ahead in this respect.
