kill auto indexing?

Post by msadesign » Fri Feb 15, 2008 11:34 pm

I love LaunchBar but I notice that whenever I make a change to the drive it re-indexes; and when it does, it can grab >70% of the CPU, according to Activity Center. When I am really in the groove, this is annoying as hell.

And the thing is that most of the time I don't care if the immediately recent changes are recognized by LB.

Is there a way to make LB not re-index, or do it on a more reasonable schedule? I don't see a pref setting, if there is one.

I'm running a PPC, DP 1.8, not a fast machine by the standards of the day but not so slow, either.

In LaunchBar Configuration you can select each item and under the schedule tab you can set it to rescan only once at startup and uncheck rescan automatically.

I don't think there's a global control for that so you will have to uncheck for every configuration entry. :)

Wow. I never actually noticed this! Truth is I know that LB does a lot more but I only use it to start apps…
