Does Launchbar actually increase productivity?

Post by gewithers » Thu Jan 14, 2016 6:08 pm

I have had a valid Launchbar license for quite a while that I got as part of a bundle at one point. I have tried to use it a number of times and each time I get frustrated as it end up causing me to waste more time that actually getting anything done. Does anyone else have this or is it just me?

A mac without Launchbar is just a clunky, slow, awkward thing to me.

LB is the first thing I install on any new Mac, I love it.

Love it.

Imagine there was a feature in LaunchBar that could watch what someone is doing, and when various steps are taken, show how much quicker the same thing could be achieved in LaunchBar.

For example: selecting the address bar in a web browser, copying the text, launching Notes, creating a new note, pasting the address in.

LaunchBar would see all of that, and offer to walk the person through using Instant Send.

Like a less annoying Clippy.

I’ve been using LaunchBar for some time now, I can recommend reading through the Take Control of LaunchBar ebook. And because the book covers a lot of ground, it’s probably something you would want to go back to now and again (I know I should) to refresh your usage of it.

The LaunchBar Usage (‘Superpowers’) window is a nice prompt too, it shows you how much you’re making use of the various features (bring up LaunchBar → Command-Option-U).
