[LB6 Action] Paths: copy a file path to the clipboard

Post by facetheheat » Thu Aug 28, 2014 9:46 am

Hi!
I couldn't find this simple action in default setting of the LaunchBar, so I've created it.
Name Paths: copy a file path (from Finder window)

I don't mean to trample on your work, but pressing CMD+G while LB's open will send the foremost Finder window's selected file (or open folder) to LB.

You can find this option under Options > Select > Get Finder Selection. Alternatively, instant send works for this too.

With a file/folder selected you can then press tab, then "Copy Name" or "Copy as Plain Text" would do the trick.

Not to wee on everybody's fire here, but when I'm looking at a file in Launchbar, I just

* Alt → (shows the object metadata)
* ↓ (you may need a couple of taps - this takes you to the 'path' attribute of the item)
* CTRL C (puts the path on the clipboard)

If you wanted to get the path to the containing folder, just back up with ← before you follow these steps through.

I know other solutions will work in other parts of a workflow or set of actions in LB, but this is the quick one I use.

Fastest thing for me is:

- Long Press ⌘ + SPACE while the file is selected in Finder
- Press ⌘ + c to copy path to clipboard

All,

Command-c does not work for me. It does not copy the path, but copies the file. Any idea why?

I am using LB 6.3.

Thanks,
Jean-Pierre

as DaveMee said, rightArrow (or alt-rightArrow) to browse meta info, and copy the path from there (cmd-shift-c is paste)

In El Capitan 10.11 you can copy:

filename = ⌘C
path = ⌘⌥C
