Is this possible as an action in LaunchBar 6?

Invoke an action in LaunchBar, I enter text in the text field for the search (the same way you would for a web search or 'Enter Text' mode), and it searches for files with a specific extension (e.g. .psd) and with the name of the text I typed, then shows the results below.

It's very similar to searching within a specific category, but I can't get used to entering a search with no spaces, and having to enter it correctly before LaunchBar resets the search. It would also allow me to choose the icon to be shown too, instead of the ugly generic yellow folder category icon.

If it's possible would it be difficult to make as an action?

I think its possible. Maybe with an applescript similar to my spotlight actions viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3624&p=25114

Creating a lbaction from those applescripts and adding a custom icon is pretty easy.
Not sure its worth it though.

Maybe leave a comment here: http://manuel.weiel.eu/private-projects ... r-actions/
