using alternative URL shorteners

Post by jarodm » Mon Dec 02, 2013 10:49 pm

Why is it so difficult to use a different url shortener like bit.ly other than tiny url? Is there anyone that could help me figure out how to do it? Customizing Launchbar is way to confusing.

Thanks,

How do I use Launchbar to make bit.ly shortened URLs?

Thanks!

They simply don't have a bit.ly inbuilt action, but...

I have a 'Shorten Url (Bit.ly)' action in my lb6-actions repo, under actions/Shorten URL (Bit.ly).lbaction. It'll ask you for your API key on first run.

Aside from Bit.ly and TinyURL, I'll also be writing one for YourLS, since I use that myself, but I don't know of/use any other shorteners.

I ended up finding a bit.ly Launchbar url shortener tip here: http://www.mattytemple.com/2010/02/launchbar-script-create-bit-ly/
