OpenDNS and TimeMachine

Post by Mo » Sat Dec 01, 2007 9:55 pm

I'm running Mac OS X 10.5 and use Little Snitch to monitor network traffic. Once I started using OpenDNS, Little Snitch prompted me, saying that "automountd" wants to connect to Backups.backupdb on UDP port 111 and the IP address given is 208.67.219.130 (nxdomain.guide.opendns.com). Backups.backupdb is part of Apple's TimeMachine Backup software. Anyone know why OpenDNS's server would be involved with this?

I see a similar message, mine says "'automountd' wants to connect to mach_kernel.ks.cox.net on UDP port 111 (sunrpc)" at IP address 208.67.217.130, where ks.cox.net is my ISP. The IP address is nearly identical to yours. What is this and why is it connecting? I'm not using Time Machine at all.
