Postby charleslcso » Mon Apr 13, 2015 4:14 am

Not sure if it is caused by LS 3.5.2....

iMac 11.3
10.10.3

Anything else you need for this crash?

Hello!

Since I upgraded to 10.10.3 I also get random kernel panics of a similar kind. In the Apple Disucssion Forum I found another Little Snitch user experiencing recent kernel panics. I strongly assume now that Little Snitch could be the cause...
My system: MBP mid2012 (non-retina)

I've had the same issues since upgrading to 10.10.3 and it seems that I'm not alone ;)

I had to downgrade first, because I need my Mac for some important stuff, but tomorrow I'll upgrade again and try to deactivate LS and see if this was the culprit.
Besides: It would be better to report your crashes via support system/eMail to the devs, since they say that they don't use the forum for support ;)

Hi All,

i'm having a similar issue ?

since updating to 10.10.3 my laptop has been crashing with 800% CPU usage!

a person on the Apple forum suggested looking at my extensions as it was Kernel_Task causing the crash

strangely enough I have little snitch installed and wondered if this was the reason for my laptop crashing randomly ?

they person also said, to remove all extensions which I did and it behaved itself for a while but then after installing Little snitch it started playing funny again ?

hope this helps

regards

Simon

I have upgraded to 10.10.3 again, this time disabling the Little Snitch service in its preferences. No panics so far, but last time it also took some time - I'll keep you up-to-date. 8)

//Edit: I've just sent an e-mail to the devs and gave them the link to this thread.

I have turned the Network Filter off LS 3.5.2 for quite a while now.

No crashes so far.

Uptime...
11:41 up 2 days, 1:51, 2 users, load averages: 2.20 2.33 2.35

Not very long yet...

Update: Since yesterday morning I've had no crashes at all, with Little Snitch disabled.
Now I've activated it again and will give it another try - and this time I'll send the panic report to ObDev

Just to confirm what others have already mentioned: Yosemite 10.10.2 with latest version of Little Snitch worked perfect; then after updating to 10.10.3 unexplainable hard crashes after 2-3 hours. After I disabled Little Snitch, the system runs stable for now more than 12 hours.

Just to add more to this situation.

My MBA with 10.10.3 and LS 3.5.2 doesn't crash at all.

It's been 12 days now.

Latest report:

I've activated LS again since yesterday afternoon - and it seems©™ that OS X is running stable again
I've done quite a lot of things with the Mac in the evening and today, but now it runs fast and rock solid with LS enabled.

So what did I do?
After the downgrade to 10.10.2 I've downloaded the Combo Update from Apple, disabled LS before installing and used this one instead of the App Store updater.

Looks like it helped in my case, maybe it could be an idea for you guys as well to run the combo update.

(But I'll report again, if there's another crash)

Could you just explain how you downgraded to 10.10.2 ?

As I'm still having issues, I've even uninsulated L'S but I'm thinking it's my browsers now because it appears to only freeze when using the Internet

Time Machine backup.
But you can still try the combo updater again even without downgrading.

//edit:
Apple has just released a little update for the video drivers causing a startup issue - maybe this is also helpful for some of you: Click me

I had 2 consecutive crashes during the holidays on Yosemite. Lost my SSD the first time, reinstalled on a regular 5400RPM drive, installed LS! BAM!! Reinstalled again without and have been running without ever since.

I'd love to have it on but I don't dare install it anymore.

I'm chiming in because I hope something is found as to why this is happening so it can be resolved.

After the little supplemental update from yesterday my Mac now even crashes with LS uinstalled. So obviously something is really wrong with 10.10.3.
