What I would really like too do is be able to turn my Internet connection on/off and my
liking. As soon as OSx boots up it connects . If I open the "Internet Connect"panel and turn it off the Os will turn it on at its discretion with no warning. If you launch the dashboard it will go ahead and connect. If I unplug it ,the "
No Server found" message keeps popping up. Firewalls or not I want to be the one to decide when to connect. If I shut it off I want it to stay off. It use to be like that in the OS9 days. Anyone know of a way to do that.

The OS itself shouldn't be needed to access the internet. I can boot up my Macbook Pro and not run into any "server not found errors." Something in your setup needs to connect to a server. The first place I would look is your startup items. What I would do is remove all of them and then one by one I would add them and reboot each time until you start getting the "No server found" message. That will let you know which item is causing the problems.
