You're Going To Make Me Pay???

Post by OS2Guy » Wed Jul 18, 2012 6:45 pm

I bought my LS license on July 31, 2012 and find I'm not eligible because I didn't wait a freakin' day and buy it on May 1, 2012.

What a cheap outfit you people are. As an individual soho Apple Tech support person I promise to do my best to avoid telling my customers about your product. Best way I can repay you for your cheapness.

Disgusted LS license owner in San Francisco. Never again.

Wow!!! So, if I miss Apple's deadline for free upgrades on Mountain Lion am I supposed to start threatening to badmouth Apple? Sorry, if I were your client and you started badmouthing products, you likely would no longer be part of my tech support. Did you even write the Developer and politely ask for an exception or do you always shoot from the hip?

Think before you speak. You say you bought LS July 31 2012? It's only July 18, 2012. You couldn't have bought it on July 31, 2012 since that date is 2 weeks in the future. BTW, May is BEFORE July, not after.

Jeez, people! It's an obvious typo. I'm sure they meant 30 April (pedants should be banned from EVERYWHERE, IMHO). However, I purchased on 1 April and do kind of have an issue with spending more money, so soon. I can, sort of, understand maybe 1 year, but not a few months...it's not like it's an OS.

Can we hear from the developers? Thanks! :)

Whatever the cutoff date is, there will always be someone who just bought it a few days earlier. If the developers change the date to make it free after April 1, 2012, then everyone who bought in March 2012 will be chiming in...

Very possibly, however there would probably be fewer complaints if the cutoff date was 1 year, not 5 months (in my case; the OP's case is more like 4 months), from the date of purchase.

Everyone's right to state their personal opinions about others' posts nothwithstanding, I would still like to hear what the developers have to say. :)

It might help them if you state just what exactly you want the developers to say.

It's a bit strange to see such an angry question.

1. Nobody forces you to update the product. Moreover LS 2.5.3 is ML compatible as the site states (I've never tried it on ML, though).
2. The upgrade license price is about $15. How many Starbucks cups of coffee you can take in SF for that price?
3. From my POV the product is awesome and if I'm not lucky to get a free upgrade (I bought a license in March, 2012), for me it's no problem to pay for the license upgrade and support the product.
