Feature Req: Display of last blocked connection

Dear obdev crew,

I am totally convinced by the functionality of Little Snitch - there is just one aspect I'd like to see enhanced. Compared to the easy setup of a rule using right-click in the Network Monitor, it is quite complicated to review them in case of an unwanted connection block. For example: You blocked a hostname and thus a number of IP's and later try to access a service that is located on one of the recently blocked IP's(like blocking google and trying to access youtube later on). In that case it is quite difficult to find out what exact connection was denied by LS. But that would be necessary to create an exemption of the rule.

So i want to encourage you to include a feature (possibly in the Network monitor) that lists the last 10 (or so) blocked connections and the rule that was applied in each case. Maybe even with the functionality to create an exemption right from the network monitor.

This would enhance LS a lot in my opinion: Active rule-reviewing would not longer be necessary, but instead you could evaluate and fine-tune your ruleset while surfing the web. I have included other posts, that are recurring on the same or similar topics, as a link below.

I'd be happy to see a feature like this implemented in the future. Thanks for the great job you do with LS!

Regards

Is that not listed when you select "unapproved rules " ?

Or, is the "unapproved rules" something different ?

I second this feature request. I have found myself wishing for this very feature daily, and searched the forum for it landing me here.

I would agree - though think last 10 might be a bit limited. I suspect that the actual number in the list does not present any major implementation issues nor system overhead so maybe a plist option.

Yes, i would like to have Little Snitch provide a list of blocked connections for my review.

Yes, this would be nice too, but as a list of recently blocked connection attempts with timestamps.

Is this feature there yet? If it is I can't find it.

I like to deny everything when visiting websites as so much of it is tracking and ad links.

It isn't always obvious what I deny does so often I block something that is needed.

If there was a timestamp of when rules were added and also a list of the last deny rules applied it would make
turning deny rules into allow rules much easier.

Thanks

Yes, it's there in Little Snitch 3.

The new Network Monitor shows blocked connections as well. You can even filter the connection list to show blocked connections only (click the magnifying glass in the search field to search for "Status: Denied"). And when you keep the list sorted by last activity (which is the default), the last blocked connection is always at the top of the list.

Furthermore, you can right click on a connection and choose "Show Corresponding Rule" from the menu to find the rule that was responsible for this particular connection being allowed or denied.
