Littlesnitch and MS Office

Post by Miles Appleby » Wed Feb 21, 2007 8:15 am

Hi,

I'm running MS Office 2004 for mac on OS 10.4.8. Every time I quit Word or Excel these applications attempt to connect to dhcp222.xxx.xxx.xxx on TCP port 3813. I've created several rules to stop this: deny forever any network connections for each application, as well as deny forever the same server, same port and server and port for these applications but LS still warns me each time I quit these applications that this is still being attempted.

What exactly is this trying to do? Is it harmless or otherwise? How to create an effective rule to stop this traffic, I don't like MS calling home or that is what it appears to be doing. thanks in advance,

M.A.

Little Snitch per default does not warn about local network traffic or traffic that does not leave the local network (broadcasts). Please revert to the factory ruleset and then try to use MS Office again. If the Little Snitch panel then still comes up, please state the full host name the MS Office app is trying to connect to.
