Havn't tried handsoff but I have switch to Lulu - https://objective-see.com/products/lulu.html - Not as slick as Little snitch but doesn't have the boot problem and at least the developer is responsive.

This problem first appeared on my 2017 iMac which I sent 4 times to the Apple Store (yeah, it was very frustrating) and each tie I'd use Time Machine to reinstall my "old setup", it came back with the inability to boot (with the massive boot delay).

After trial and error, I had determined the problem came from Little Snitch but I still had a little doubt.

I couldn't imagine this software I had used for years would introduce such a massive problem with MacOS Mojave but then, just as I was starting to tell myself Little Snitch was fine, the problem hit again, the exact same problem... on my MacBook Pro.

Yep, after trashing my OS on my iMac, this time, there was ZERO DOUBT that Little Snitch was the culprit.

I received the prompt from Little Snitch for an upgrade and did it... and the restarted... but after seeing the white line go 75% of the distance, it then switched to the turning flower-like circle and just turned, slowly, forever...

My MacBook Pro had been trashed by Little Snitch, just like my iMac was.

I don't know if OBDev knows how much trouble and money I've had to go through because of their FLAWED Little Snitch software.

And the very fact none of the developers are answering this thread makes this even worse.

There is a very, very, very serious problem with the Little Snitch / MacOS Mojave combination. For now, I recommend everyone completely uninstalls Little Snitch before it messes up their computer too.

I have updated LS to 4.2.3 and the problem persists.
I start to be a little angry. I'm a LS user since version 2 and I've never had a problem like this.
Your support and way of dealing with this incidence is very improvable.

Im jumping on this thread though my earlier problem was a little different - so this morning i was prompted to install the latest update for LS dating 14th of November, which I had delayed a few days (today is the 20th of November 2018), and on reboot, as the update requires a reboot, my recently purchased 13 inch mac book pro could not finish the boot sequence and even threw up a log, saying that the installation of mac os X (high Sierra, my current OS) had not been completed and that i would have to re-install the OS from scratch.

that was quite the shock, as I have been using LS for over 5 years and have never had any issues with it. So i re-installed the system, and for now, everything seems to be working again - but ill keep an eye out. also during the dodgy boot sequences, the apple logo at the center of the screen would sometimes display a red square behind it for a quarter of a second, no idea what that was....

Thing is that I payed good money in order to purchase the upgrade to be able to use it with Mojave. The Software is not working flawlessly and the devs don't really seem to bother that much. That makes me lose trust in a product and company I loved and trusted for so many years.

Well as many others im just in the same Boat and we all paid good Money for the product. That massive boot delay was pulling on my nerves so I jumped ship. I don't know if it ever will be fixed but for now I have to use something else. Waiting always 3-4 Minutes for the Machine to boot is just no fun. Without LS installed the boot is done within 10 seconds.

Hi,

You have to confirm this with cold boots not from a simple restart
Issue is random.

I know it's random and yes, I did several cold boots. But I have to mention that also running the previous version I had serval reboots without any problem until the problem returns.
Maybe an interesting observation: When holding down Shift during start up (secure mode) the boot delay is nearly in the same range :?:

OK, thx for the infos.

At the moment I have no more issue with the last 5237.

ObDev support answered me that they changed the behavior towards the mDNS Responder ...

Several affected users (including me) sent them the kernel logs and may have ended up finding a common aspect to the problem.
Let's hope the problem is fixed.

Dear Little Snitch user community,

With the release of Little Snitch 4.3 nightly (5237) we tried another approach to tackle the “delay during system startup on macOS Mojave” issue that some of you are experiencing. So far we’ve received positive feedback from users who have installed this nightly build, reporting that startup times are back to normal.

We kindly ask all Little Snitch users affected by the problem to update to the latest nightly version. And we want to thank all users for their cooperation and patience.

You can download the nightly build here:

Hey guys! I have a MacbookPro 15 mid 2015 model and I have read all messages as guest before registration. But today I have created an account to say some words about this situation:

I have bought a new version of Little Snitch for Mojave at the beginning of November. After one day later I have found a problem with a delay on "cold boot". I have written to the support and they send me another one night build. But all builds didn't help. Current build of Little Snitch 4.3 (5237) is feels good. I have tested it almost for 2 day with my mb pro. And after 20 hours after last shutdown - it's starts normal. I know all of us need more time for test, but I hope the problem is gone.

With best regards to developers, old Little Snitch Russian user.
