Strange Problem with Safari

Post by flak » Mon Sep 03, 2018 6:03 am

Hello everyone -

I've had a strange problem with LittleSnitch (4.1.3) appear out of nowhere.

I'm running MacOS 10.12 and suddenly Safari can't connect to *some* web sites. It can't connect to either PayPal or Discogs, for example. But most other sites are working fine. Google, for example.

If I turn off LittleSnitch the problem goes away. If I turn on LittleSnitch but disable *all* of the Safari rules, the sites are still blocked! The problem appears to be LittleSnitch, but not the rules governing Safari. I'm wondering if there is some underlying process that's been blocked?

It's the same with Firefox. Can't reach PayPal and Discogs but Google and most others work fine. Turning LittleSnitch off resolves the problem. With LittleSnitch running, turning off the rules that govern Firefox doesn't help. Very similar problem.

I went through all the rules and don't see anything that looks like it's relevant.

Is there some way to diagnose what's happening?

Please shout out if you have any thoughts about this.

Thanks,
-Scott

I uninstalled and then reinstalled Little Snitch. That seems to have solved the problem.
