Is V4 much heavier?

I'm on 10.12.6 and just upgraded from 3 to 4.02. With more or less the same net traffic, LS seems to need much more resources. I have around 100% of (one) cpu load, that go to 200% and more if I open the Network Monitor window. The fan is going like hell all the time.

Is this normal? Should I change anything? Is load depending more on traffic, number of rules, or what?

I am seeing LS Agent/Daemon/Helper/NetworkMonitor at 0.0-0.3 %CPU on a Mac Pro 5,1 (dual 3Gh CPU with 96GB ram). . . not really different than my load on the same when using 3.x.y

On my MacBook Pro 13" (i7 d/c, w/16GB ram), performance is quite similar (though I can generally 'feel' the heat from the chips through the casing).

All-in-all, my impression is that the performance of v.4.x.y is not dissimilar to that of 3.x.y

Fantastic soft-ware, obdev-peeps :)

The discussion in viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10951 is possibly related to the question. Apparently the map feature uses significant resources, but it's possible to free those resources if necessary.

I do think it is. LS has always been very light, but I think that bc of the map in the new ver. it became much heavier. It now actually shows on the "Apps using significant energy" part of the energy usage.

It's actually using more energy than Firefox!! And Firefox uses a ton of energy! In Energy Impact on the Activity Monitor it says 33.9 for LS Network Monitor, and 18.1 for Firefox (as I type this on Firefox!). Crazy.
