but I hate reading on-screen and there doesn't seem to be a PDF version available. Related topic: LaunchBar Help in PDF format I'll check them out. From my post : In general, especially after the LB5 beta announcement, I've been looking for examples of how people take advantage of capabilities beyo...

Help is good as a reference but not as a learning tool; for that the ability to read a document from front to back is more useful, at least for me. At least when getting familiar with an app's documentation I definitely prefer the top-to-bottom, birds-eye view a PDF or other "single-page"...

Ubiquitous file tags really don't belong in kMDItemKeywords regardless of what some developers believe/implement. See Tom Anderson's post (@Noodlesoft Forums) for an example why not. While it's not the primary topic there's plenty of general discussion (i.e. not associated with specific products) of...

Hopefully Open Meta proves to be a viable alternative to the flakey pseudo-standard of using Spotlight Comments for file tag storage/sharing. For whatever reasons, Apple has remained stubbornly reluctant to provide a method for doing it.

Exactly, Jono. And I trust Norbert can find an acceptable solution with or without our ideas and opinions… though we needn't stop contributing them. :)

I've never used the ⌘Y Quick Look shortcut in Finder either since Space is so easy and obvious.

The advantage of letting the Finder is handle it is that it would then handle duplicate files and such more gracefully. All that file moving code's already there. For better and worse . Using the Finder's progress bar seems the most consistent to me. Presumably you mean using Finder, along with its...

It would be nice maybe if LB could ask the finder to copy/move the file, and thus have the finders file progress bar. I disagree; seems potentially confusing to get Finder involved there. I'd prefer a separate LB copy/move progress bar; similar to the Indexing Progress palette window would be fine.

Seems he already did that:

I just trimmed down a bunch of my indexes, but I can't do much more since I rely on it so much.

I don't use Spaces, so we can eliminate that as the cause of this particular problem. Not completely. There's still a possibility (however improbable) that Spaces could be one of multiple causes. But I'll put all my money on it not being anything that Repair Disk Permissions voodoo will fix. If you...

Interesting, ignoring some of the typical flamboyant Radsoft/Rixstep flamboyance.

Kind of puzzling why there still isn't an atomic move() Unix/POSIX/BSD/Linux (whatever) syscall for FSPathMoveObjectAsync (et al) to exploit. Seems related to one of those stubborn Unix legacies you can love to hate, i.e. rename() basically unchanged since single-drive/volume Unix systems were the n...

Geeze, Dennis, now you've gotten me curious how you're using other shortcuts and which you've changed. I've only changed the Search in LaunchBar default to Control-Tab because I prefer letting Spotlight keep its Command-Space default. But I'm considering switching to Control-Space for SiL. I like us...

Yep, I was aware it would block but not sure whether it was possible to create/use a new thread for it in that context, basically simulating FSPathMoveObjectAsync. Better I just leave any workarounds to your expertise and stop speculating about 'em. :)

Thanks for keeping us informed.
