Re: Coming from Quicksilver - A few questions :)

Hi Jono! I tried to answer your questions briefly and point you to some threads that discuss the topic in more depth. Is there a way I can select more options to change the hotkey to activate LaunchBar? (To something like Command-Option or F1?) Objective Development promised there will be QuickSilve...

Hi xem! What Fred was talking about was that there are literally seven shortcuts you can choose from for activating LaunchBar: http://img.skitch.com/20080221-kixqnw7xuxnxf57w23k49jca5j.png See, seven all in all. The "Control Key Navigation" let's you emulate the arrow keys in LaunchBar via...

In LaunchBar Configuration you can select each item and under the schedule tab you can set it to rescan only once at startup and uncheck rescan automatically.

I don't think there's a global control for that so you will have to uncheck for every configuration entry. :)

Now that I reflected on my own app-starting habits I have a question for you: Is it so much harder to press enter after each app and then your shortcut again? It seems fast enough for me as even one app will usually take longer to start than me typing in two or three app names. I hope I made sense, ...

No, I'm afraid you're right. I don't think there is a way to do that in LaunchBar. if you use a certain set of apps together often you can write an Applescript that opens those apps and launch that via LaunchBar. Apart from that I can only ask you to write the developer how useful that feature would...

Hi sfuzzymagic,
as far as I know Objective Development promised there would be QuickSilver-like invoking via
"a short tap on a modifier key such as Command or Control" in the 4.4 update.

Feel free to issue a feature request, though :-)

Ludwig

Hi davidww1, I think you did everything correct. What I would recommend is that you log on your Guest-Account and try starting your ftp apps from there. The Guest-Account will give you fresh rules to see whether it's really LittleSnitch who's giving you trouble. If it doesn't work and doesn't ask on...

Ah, OK. That seems useful Clips can't do that (I think), but Applescript can. I know that in Windows there are numbers associated with each keystroke That's not Windows, that's ASCII, so it works in Mac OS X, too. I tweaked a little Applescript to show you the possibilities. The original script was ...

Right you are, FredSmith. Maybe an Applescript that in/decreases the volume for the time being, and a feature request to Objective Development ? Another idea would be to use an application that sets system-wide shortcuts with your arrow-keys, but you probably thought of that yourself. Good luck, and...

Why don't you just use the keyboard keys (F3–F5 on my MacBook) to adjust the volume?

No need to make things more complicated than the already are :-) (unless I'm missing the point here)

Hi beelerspace,
can you tell me what it is you want to do?

Do you mean the text clips that LaunchBar can read and insert for you? You sure can just type return when you create one.

interested in what you're up to,

Well, the difference between "Exclude Items" and "Skip Subfolders" is just what the name says: If a subfolder is skipped , none of it's content will be scanned. If a subfolder is excluded , the folder itself won't be visible, but it's contents will. For your case it seems likely ...

when I drag text on any of this apps in LB (incl. Text-Edit and Mail), LB shows "Open with xxx" in green, but when I drop the text, nothing happens. I can confirm that behaviour, doesn't work. For the Stickies: that's a limitation of the Stickies application, but you can use the services-...

OK, that looks reasonable :-)

So basically it's not possible - or at least not recommended - to remove Little Snitch's registration without reinstalling it.

Well, that's fine.

I believe I have an Answer, but I'm not sure it works (I didn't try it!) In the folder /Library/Application Support/Objective Development/Little Snitch there's a file called 'registration'. While the contents seem to be obfuscated I'm pretty sure that it contains your registration data. I believe th...
