If you type SPOTLIGHT you should get the "Search in Spotlight" Action. After selecting it, pressing either space or return should give you a text field to enter your query. After pressing return again a Spotlight-Finder window should open. Which of these doesn't work for you? regards, Ludwig

Norbert, thanks for the pointer. I knew I had it from your documentation, but I couldn't find it again… anyway, it's a very handy function!

Hm… OK, that's true. The slash should be dropped :)
However, for me, both work fine in Safari 4 Beta. No idea why…

OK, I'm sorry guys – I posted this without even testing. :?
So I owe it to you to get it to work:

Code: Select all

http://www.macupdate.com/*/

I didn't even need a packet sniffer, there's almost plain text instructions in their mozilla search plugin.

Happy searching,
Ludwig

I just took a quick look at their site, the search string format still seems pretty straightforward for me:

Code: Select all

http://www.macupdate.com/search.php?keywords=*

The following should work after you've assigned "," to Enter Text:
hold ",", enter some text, hit Tab, select an action and... go!

I know that holding "," is not as nice as hitting it, but it should work for the time being.

Ludwig

Just 2. & 4., a little 5 : To select a file from PathFinder in LaunchBar you can use what is called "Instant Send". You select the string/file/whatever you want in LaunchBar and either press and hold your LaunchBar shortcut, or you can specify a certain shortcut under Preferences>Short...

Usually when that happens you forgot the Safari settings. But since that doesn't seem to be the case… does it open in a new tab when using another search template?

And have you double checked in Safari, in the General preferences: Open links in in a new tab in current window?

Re: current version of LB 4

Really?
On the download page LaunchBar 4.3.7 is listed. So it is the latest version.

However, the beta seems pretty stable to me (hasn't crashed whatsoever), so you might want to give it a try!

You're right, sjk, nor did I say you were completely wrong (But kudos to you for being exact ) When you search for "hide" in LaunchBar's help, you'll find the following excerpt: In addition to the Command-H menu shortcut you can hide LaunchBar by pressing either Escape, Command-Period or C...

sjk, it only does so if you haven't searched for anything yet.
Norbert's shortcuts on the other hand work in all situations, I'd guess.

You still might want to submit an official feature request to Objective Development here.
