Network Monitor Display

I LOVE the network monitor and support user requests for wanting more data/logging from that function. BUT, there's one thing that bugs me that I do NOT see talked about. The drop-down panel is locked to one, and only one place. AND it serves to obscure your boot drive. Yes, there IS a work-arounf (...

Re: Does little snitch protects from incoming traffic?

LS only wants to deal with data going out from your network/computer. Generally it will alert you to something going out, not the outside request. For incoming you need a firewall/router (which typically has a built in firewall).

Re: Network monitor: How about a numerical bandwidth readout?

Not sure about other units, but I had to install a wireless router last month and it tracks overall total usage through the cable modem port... so it captures ALL data than comes/goes to multiple devices. If the issue is ISP caps or charges, this is the ONLY way assuming one doesn't have a single de...

Re: Automatic Update or at least a notification of an update?

Well, there DOES seem to be SOME mechanism in there already! I say this because this morning it binged me at boot time that I was still using a beta (somehow I failed to go to a release version...). So it seems "what am I" and a bit of "is that right" are already built in. At lea...

I think by default, everything is blocked except for a series of services that are open (i.e. factory defaults). You SHOULD have gotten a pop up dialog as each service request that was blocked however...

Re: what does seats mean?

I came across a trial of this and I like this piece of software, but I when I went to this website to consider buying it I dont really understand this seat thing. Can some one explain this? "Seats" generally refers to site or volume licenses. As in exactly how many users are authorized to...

Re: Block subdomains?

I did two rules for All Applications: Deny connections to *.2o7.net Deny connections to *.207.net And so far is seems to be working, although it will surely slows you down coz of the time it consumes. That assumes wild cards such as you've used are valid... and if nobody from ObjDev has said wild c...

Re: Automatically deny all new requests

There is an "ALL Applications" setting for a rule, I THINK that any specific application set to "allow" overrides that... someone needs to confirm that! Assuming that works, there IS an inherent danger... some sub process that is within an application bundle may get blocked witho...

Re: Request: Application bandwidth throttle

Sounds to me like this should be something for a firewall to be able to do... doesn't really fit with the main purpose of LS, which is to manage outgoing connections.

Re: Had to reinstall, but lost all my rules

There seems to be some misgivings about what MA does or doesn't do. All I can say for sure is that it did a 99.8% effective job the last time I used it. We COULD talk about the issue of ObjDev NOT locating that folder in App Support, where it probably should reside (as in why not there). Is this an ...

Take a closer look at those protected rules... without them, the OS simply wouldn't be able to do much beyond boot, and I'm not so sure it could!

Re: Network monitor: How about a numerical bandwidth readout?

There are a number of utilities that can display network traffic through-put, I use MenuMeters which provides a whole bunch of other stats as well.. plus the option to configure said through-put stas in a number of ways. Consequently I would find a logging function for LS's Network Monitor of far mo...
