Restore rule restore bug in LS 3.1

I set up some rules in LS 3.1 and then backed up my rules in a .xpl file. I then deleted all but the undeletable system rules, and then restored my backup file to test the backup/restore process. I found that the restore did not seem to restore my user added rules, and I was left with only the syste...

Protected rules in Profiles in LS 3.1?

I tried Little Snitch 3.1, after having been a user of 2.x and I initially liked the idea of profiles and the ability to switch depending on which network I am connected to. However I have an issue. How can I have protected rules in the profiles? Normally protected rules cannot be deleted, but can b...

What is known to bypass LittleSnitch?

What apps are known to bypass LittleSnitch and get to the Internet without its approval? It seems to me I heard that Adobe apps and Filemaker do this. If so, how are they doing it? Also, are there any known System connections, from software supplied by Apple with the system or for free, that make an...

Re: Little Snitch with Tor and proxies?

Good question. I use Tor as well but that I know of Tor uses Firefox not Safari. How are you using Safari? I did this with an older version of the Vidalia bundle, when it still included privoxy. I set the system network preferences to use a proxy to Tor on my local box and all Internet activity wen...

Re: Little Snitch itself phones home!

Who gives a shit about this anyways. It's only the people that want to pirate LS that are worried about this it seems. Even if it did connect, what would it matter if you're a legit user? Privacy concerns? Prove it or move it. I am curious about this issue for the following reasons: 1) I thinking a...

Re: Little Snitch itself phones home!

With LIttle Snitch 3, is it still true that this product still never connects itself to the Internet for any reason?

Thanks

Re: Tracking a thief

It has been repeatedly said here that Little Snitch does not call home, although I think that was in the LIttle Snitch 2 days. I doubt it has changed though. So there would be no way to get the IP address of a computer using Little Snitch through ObDev. (Pirated serial numbers are blocked by a list ...

Re: Little Snitch with Tor and proxies?

Any comments?

Any way to make current version of Little Snitch check the outgoing connections before they are redirected by the proxy or tor, so that apps can be blocked from phoning home, even if connection to their home will be indirect through the proxy or tor?

Little Snitch with Tor and proxies?

When I connect to internet with Tor (or other proxies), I have found with Little Snitch 2, that outgoing connections going through Tor/proxy are not identified by their originating source and software can phone home. Is there any thing I can do about this while browsing with Safari through Tor? I ha...

Minimum Allow Rules to just browse in Safari

I figured out I need only 2 allow rules in Little Snitch if I want a Mac's outgoing internet access to be limited to simple web browsing in Safari (Snow Leopard, Little Snitch 2.5.3) mDNSResponder - allow any connection Safari - allow any connection All other rules can be deny rules, or unchecked (d...

Can Little Snitch block first connections after boot?

This question was raised on another thread, but deserves a thread of its own. I am concerned precisely what the Mac App Store (MAS) support software sends back to Apple and whether it could be completely blocked by LS (from boot time on). It is known that the MAS software scans your entire system lo...
