Re: lsd uses 90% CPU all the time

When you encounter the issue the next time, can you please do a sudo sample 'Little Snitch Daemon' in a Terminal window (you'll need your admin password) and mail us the output to technical support? https://obdev.at/support/index.html?product=LS&topic=question Please also mail us which version y...

Re: Stop recording browsing history!

I cannot guarantee a timeframe. We would like to see this feature before summer, but if something more important (e.g. reported vulnerabilities or relevant bugs) gets in between, we have to defer it. You'll see new versions in the software update and this particular feature will be listed as "h...

Re: Mac doesn't start after installing Little Snitch 4.0.5

And one more thing: If you booted in recovery mode, the path is not "/Library/Extensions", but rather "/Volumes/name-of-your-harddisk/Library/Extensions". Replace "name-of-your-harddisk" with the appropriate value, of course. If there are spaces in the name, you need to...

Re: Mac doesn't start after installing Little Snitch 4.0.5

@ronakjain90: The "rm -rf Library/Extensions/LittleSnitch.kext" did not do anything because you did not prefix it with "sudo". Only root can delete entries in "/Library/Extensions" and the "-f" option suppresses error messages. And note that you really need to...

You CAN configure it. When you double-click a rule in Little Snitch Configuration, you can edit its properties. One of the properties is whether a valid code signatures should be required.

Re: 4.0.3 has huge memory and CPU footprint in High Sierra

We would be glad to fix this, but as long as we use Apple's MapKit, we must live with all of its features. The only workaround is to avoid using MapKit in the first place. You can do this by keeping the map closed (never opening it). The map is allocated the first time it's opened.

Re: Stop recording browsing history!

Sorry, we don't have a solution for this problem yet. Currently your only option is to regularly delete Safari from the list (Cmd-Delete) or to disable Network Monitor completely.

Re: Mac doesn't start after installing Little Snitch 4.0.5

I had this issue after installing LS on a brand new iMac. Not even the developers of LS seem to be immune to this type of issue... It took me several hours to find out what's going on. Here's the solution (and explanation) in short: When Little Snitch's kernel extension is installed, a new kernel mu...

You share connection information ONLY when you click a button to explicitly request data from our server. Information shown immediately (without additional user interaction) is stored locally, nothing is sent over Internet.

Re: Lost connection to Daemon after Screen saver

When the connection to the daemon is lost, this usually means that the daemon has crashed. You should have a crash report in Console.app > System Reports (left sidebar of the console window) for Little Snitch Daemon. Can you please mail us the crash report(s) to the support address? If you have no c...

Re: Stop recording browsing history!

I agree that there should be better control over the data available in Network Monitor. I can't promise a time frame, though. But we are aware of the problem. Regarding PII, PHI and GDPR: These are about data related to persons. Network Monitor stores connection information. All this info is about t...

Re: Stop recording browsing history!

You might have been using version 3 then. Version 3 did not persist connection history over restarts.

Re: Stop recording browsing history!

There is no alternative location of the connections cache. It's in the same directory as configuration.user.xpl. If there is no such file, connections cannot be persisted.

Re: Stop recording browsing history!

The "~" represents your home directory. Sorry for the confusion. Finder hides the "Library" directory in your home. You can open it in a Terminal window with the command

open ~/Library

Re: Stop recording browsing history!

You CAN delete the history. Just select all connections in Network Monitor and press Cmd-Delete or right-click them and choose "Delete". The database is in ~/Library/Application Support/Little Snitch/ConnectionsCache.sqlite. If you want to delete the file, please turn off Network Monitor w...
