Re: LaunchBar 6 no longer pulls up my Applications

My Applications index issue appears to be fixed. I had added several new applications to my system using an Action in LaunchBar. Unbeknownst to me, that placed the apps in my ~/Applications folder, which was not indexed. (While uncommon to have one, it might make sense to index it by default if it e...

Re: LaunchBar 6 no longer pulls up my Applications

I’m having the same problem. I’m not sure when it started, Some of my applications are indexed, others — newer apps that have been added to /Applications recently — are not. Indexing for applications is enabled. It is set to use the OS X LaunchServices database and search in /Applications and /Syste...

Lock Screen vs. Screen Saver

I used to use “lock” to invoke the screen saver in OS X (which can be configured to require a password, of course). In LaunchBar 6, the text “lock” switches out to the OS X loginwindow. It does this even when Fast User Switching is not enabled, so I presume it’s relying on OS X’s ability to present ...

Re: How to send a tweet?

Does anyone know of a differet Twitter client for the Mac which can work with LaunchBar (AppleScriptable or has a service) but that doesn't automatically shorten URLs? I am mostly interested in sending text to a Twitter client to edit/finalize/post there. The official Twitter client is pretty comple...

Re: Launchbar and Office 2011 Integration

I have created a few Action scripts, including some support for Outlook 2011, and posted them to my Bitbucket account . There is a working "New Outlook mail message" script in this collection. Since I created this script, I've been using it heavily and it has been doing well for me. The on...

Sync LaunchBar prefs, index, and actions between computers

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best working way to sync LaunchBar prefs, index, and actions between computers? I have a pretty complex setup on one system that I'd like to translate to another. Keeping them both set up the same is a goal, if that is possible. The Alfred Power Pack alre...

Re: Apple Messages does not appear in LaunchBar

I just enter "ichat" as that's what I've been typing into LaunchBar for years, anyway. Checking out the Info.plist for the Messages Public Beta, it looks like it identifies itself as iChat 6.1 everywhere but in the .app filename we see in the Finder.

Re: Add Event in Exchange Calendar Possible?

The Fantastical application, with which LaunchBar integrates, allows you to enter calendar events using more natural language into Exchange (or other calendars) available in Outlook 2011. I haven't really used the calendar event creation that is native to LaunchBar, but Fantastical is more purpose-b...

Re: Outlook 2011 Address Book Index

With both Outlook:Mac and Entourage, I have found it best to use the Sync Services features of these clients to sync my contacts to the Apple Address Book. LaunchBar can then index that contacts store — and only that store. A big benefit of this is that LaunchBar won't load up Outlook/Entourage (if ...

Re: Launchbar and Office 2011 Integration

I am also interested in Action integration with Outlook 2011 as a supplement/replacement for Entourage. I currently don't use the Apple clients and need the fuller Exchange integration that Outlook 2011 offers.

Re: Apple Warranty Status by Serial Number

I actually thought I'd had this working and then it broke, so I was going to post that something in Apple's form had changed. However, I now see that I didn't get it to work. Anyone have any tips on how to get this to work with the Apple Warranty Status by Serial Number form ( https://selfsolve.appl...

Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents no matter what format

Are there official search categories that find all Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents, no matter what the file format is? I'm using LaunchBar 5.0.2 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard, and can't find any categories that do this. My "Microsoft Word 97 - 2004 Documents" category results in hundreds ...

Re: repeating search with new template

Is there a way to do this across all LaunchBar items that accept input? Or to just get back the string that you typed last time? I often want to do that for the calculator function, especially when I forget to copy the results to the clipboard for re-use in another app.

Earth911 compact fluorescent (CFL) bulb recycling

As long as I was looking up recycling information for batteries (see my last post), I also looked it up for compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. I used the lamprecycle.org site to find another site that allowed searching by ZIP code or location. They listed Earth911 as a source for searching for recycli...
