Open Unix man pages in Preview via LaunchBar

This is probably not going to be terribly useful for most people, but here's an Applescript to open Unix man pages in Preview (which makes them WAY easier to read, particularly if they're long). To use, save the Applescript below somewhere that LaunchBar can find it, and then use an abbreviation to ...

Re: Paste text via LaunchBar + Applescript

Yeah, I did figure this out. I've been waiting to publish a how-to and accompanying scripts until Textsoap is updated (discovered some bugs in the Applescript routines while I was testing). I think if you go to the preferences and check the "include beta releases" option for auto-updating ...

Clean text with TextSoap and paste

Although Textsoap's Applescript support is still a little bit buggy, this script is working pretty well for me with LaunchBar 5. How to use it: 1) Copy the script below into your favorite Applescript editor (Script Editor or Script Debugger being my suggestions) and save it as "Clean Text and P...

I'm with Silk on this one: the last copied item needs to be bumped up in the list, not given focus. Say I'm working on converting a Word doc to an HTML newsletter (unfortunately a weekly task). With PTHClipboard, I copy the placeholder HTML once, and then I can copy title, copy text, clean text in T...

Completely agreed; every clipboard manager I've ever used has worked like this, and it definitely works best for my workflow.

I answered my own question; this is super easy to do with LaunchBar: on handle_string(vanillaStr) -- modify the string somehow here; this is a boring change set modifiedStr to vanillaStr & " I'm changed!" tell application "LaunchBar" perform action "Copy and Past...

Speed, stability, lack of a steep learning curve, and overall quality of product are the reasons I switched from Quicksilver to LaunchBar. Your personal mileage may vary. What I do prefer QS over LB for, is the moving or copying of a file from one location on my Macs to another. It is an easier proc...

Paste text via LaunchBar + Applescript

Does anyone know of a way to do this? I want to: 1) Select a clipboard history item in LaunchBar 2) Send the text to an Applescript 3) Modify the text in the Applescript, and paste whatever comes out (same as if I had chosen Paste for the history item in step #1) The first two steps are no-brainers ...

I also would love to see this feature implemented. Invoking LaunchBar and holding the abbreviation is cool, but far less useful (and a lot slower) than just having a system-wide shortcut for my favorite actions. Wouldn't even need to add much in the way of interface; just let me attach shortcuts to ...

Not sure what you're looking for, but here's the first script you linked to converted for LaunchBar (please note that I haven't tested it, so it may or may not work for you; all I'll guarantee is that you'll be able to call it from LaunchBar rather than Quicksilver): on handle_string(tweet) ...

Ok, looks like I was able to answer my own question with a little testing. If you want a script that accepts text to be able to run with either Quicksilver or Launchbar with nearly identical behavior, here's the easiest way to do it: -- Quicksilver tie-in code using terms from application "Quic...

Applescripts that can work with either LB or Quicksilver

Although I haven't used Quicksilver in years, I'm currently constructing some Applescripts that I'd like to share that will benefit users of either program. Does anyone know if it's possible to write a script that will work silently for either program? I tried this: using terms from application &quo...

Post to Twitter with LaunchBar (using Twitterrific)

Hey folks, I just got into Twitter, and I'm experimenting around with different ways of posting to the service (like Twitterrific , MoodBlast , etc.). I've thrown together a simple Applescript that takes a LaunchBar text string, does a quick character count, and then posts the string to Twitter via ...

Even just having the app notify me when a new version as released (whether or not it updated itself) would be nice.

Although Sparkle updating is definitely preferable to having to trek to the website, download it, quit it, overwrite it, and launch it again.
