Microsoft Word 2011 Dictionary

Whenever I try to use the dictionary in MS Word 2011, MS phones home, and if I deny, I can't access the dictionary. This is completely annoying and seems to serve no purpose other than to spy on users. Is the dictionary now online? What is the purpose of this if not to spy?

Question is, what does iTunes need from my computer to allow me to connect to internet radio?

Or more succinctly, is Apple spying on my computer via iTunes? If so, is there anything that can be done to keep it from doing so while allowing connection?

Thank you. I disabled all the SyncMate mac/apple/idisk connections. Regarding Help, all I did was tell LS to not allow the connection, and that's all that kept me from accessing LS Help. As soon as I told LS to allow the connection, LS Help was again accessible.

If the rule is protected, it means that I cannot make any modifications to it. It has a lock icon next to it, and when I click on it, the dialogue box is gray. So how do I keep my computer from connecting with Apple and mac.com against my wishes?
