Re: LS rules not preserved when booting to a CCC clone

A curiosity question, if I may: On the clone that didn't boot right, did you perhaps make the clone but not boot it, then sometime later update LS, then boot the clone for the first time? I had similar problems at one time, which seemed to be associated with that procedure. I haven't done enough te...

Re: LS rules not preserved when booting to a CCC clone

Problem seems to have solved itself. I'm now getting the dialogue box again.

LS rules not preserved when booting to a CCC clone

When first booting to the clone, LS used to present a dialogue box asking if I wanted to continue using current rules--or something like that, don't remember the exact wording, but I'm no longer getting that message, and that might be the problem. I would just hit the button "continue using cur...

Possible to run LS 2 and 3 side by side?

I would be interested in trying out LS 3 if there is a demo version, as there was in 2. But I first need to know if they can be run side by side, as I wouldn't want to lose my 2.5.4 before being sure I want 3. If this is possible, how can it be done? Also, will LS 3 preserve my LS 2 settings, or wil...

Yes, that works. Unless there's something more direct, that's what I'll have to do from now on. Many thanks.

Little Snitch (2.3.6) and TenFourFox

TenFourFox (referred to here as TFF) is a Firefox based application which allows the latest versions of Firefox, no longer supported for 10.4 by Mozilla, to run on 10.4 Macs. I recently updated to TenFourFox 9.0 from 8.0. I had already set up the necessary allow port 80/443 rules for TFF, as well as...

Re: After installing Firefox 7, Little Snitch is going crazy

I don't think the firefox-bin one belongs. You will see it has a generic icon and those rules will not be effective. I would change all the rules there from firefox-bin to Firefox, from Applications>Choose. This will give you the Firefox icon. You'll see that if you try to create a new rule using fi...

Re: Still connecting from browser despite rules to Deny

You're welcome. That's certainly fine that way. BTW, after much tearing out of hair over several days, I discovered that a LS rule blocking doubleclick.com (not .net) was preventing the loading of images on many of the blogs on blogspot.com. Now, I know blogspot.com and doubleclick are both owned by...

Re: Still connecting from browser despite rules to Deny

Thanks for the tips. I will try those out. Unfortunately, I don't know of any blacklist of known sites and servers of spam and malware for /etc/hosts by IP address. Perhaps, if someone reading this knows of one, they can supply a link. I suppose I can spend an hour inserting commas. EDIT: I've found...

Re: Still connecting from browser despite rules to Deny

OK, now it's working for any port, any protocol when I block specifically in Firefox. Not sure what I was doing wrong before. What I'd still like to know is if there is any way to "bulk" load a number of sites I want to blacklist (such as a large list that would normally be entered in /etc...

Re: Still connecting from browser despite rules to Deny

I mentioned that I tried setting up one of the blocking rules just for Firefox, not "all applications." This didn't prevent me from connecting to that domain. I have port 80 and port 443 for Firefox set to allow all TCP connections. Then, I want to block Firefox from connecting to the hypo...

Still connecting from browser despite rules to Deny

I have established "All applications" rules to deny a number of domains, with "Port any" and " Protocol any" selected. Despite setting these rules, all of which are enabled, I can still connect to all of these sites from my browser (Firefox 7.) I have tried with "G...

Re: After installing Firefox 7, Little Snitch is going crazy

I also experienced similar weirdness after updating to Fx 7. Unless I allowed the requests, I was unable to connect anywhere (there were three or four requests specific to several URLs, and they constantly reappeared after every quit/reopen, even if allowed temporarily.) I denied all the requests, t...

Re: storeagent connecting to facebook, tmz?

Is it possible that this is a LS caching issue: that both the facebook and the tmz domains happen to share the same IP address with Apple as routed through Akamai, and LS has remembered/cached previous connections to those domains, so that's why those names are showing up, but this doesn't represent...
