Feature request: Search History

It would be handy for users to have the option to store and access their LaunchBar search history. For example, I have a Search Template that to lookup books on Amazon. I frequently want to repeat a search that I did before my last search. Rather than reentering the search parameters, I'd like to be...

Re: Hide Others action not working

I would like to know whether obdev considers this to be an issue with LaunchBar. It is always LaunchBar that ends up the foreground after "Hide Others" goes wrong. Is this something that obdev could fix?

Re: Hide Others action not working

For the record, I should note that I also tried shutting down iBiz , TrackTime and TextExpander. That didn't work either. I also set Command-option H as an "all applications" shortcut in Systems Preferences, but this didn't work either. The only thing that works for me is to switch to the ...

Re: Hide Others action not working

I have isolated the command-option H problem to using an external keyboard (even an Apple keyboard). When I type directly from the built in keyboard on my early 2011 MacBook Pro (Lion), command-option-H has the correct effect, namely to "hide others" (hide all windows apart from the foregr...

Feature request: Name tokens

I often find myself wanting to find files by filename, but I don't want to type in large segments of the filename. Hence, I propose a new feature with respect to spotlight search. 1. It would allow the user to treat all tokens entered by the user LaunchBar's spotlight search field as if they were pr...

Re: Proposed tweaks to indexing algorithm

Here's another variable LaunchBar can use. If the user searches the LaunchBar index but does not select one of the entries proposed by LaunchBar, then save the user's input and its timestamp. Later, match this against "last modified dates" provided by the OS X file system. I.e., identify t...

Re: Feature Request: Function key to filter Input Window rows

Your suggestion does get us part way there. But with your suggestion, the user needs to select the application first (via the input window), then press space, then the abbreviation. My request would a.) allow the constraint to be added at any point while the user is interacting with the input window...

Feature Request: Function key to filter Input Window rows

It may be useful to allow the user to narrow down search results (rows) in the LaunchBar Input Window by allowing them to hit a user-configurable function key, while typing in that widow. E.g., the configuration could be F1 = .oo3 files F2 = Folders F3 = Contacts etc. There could be more than 12 pot...

Re: Proposed tweaks to indexing algorithm

Here are some further (and easier) improvements that I recommend obdev consider for LaunchBar. Perhaps LaunchBar should give higher priority to target items (files) that have been accessed previously using LaunchBar even with different abbreviations. This is already implemented in some respects but ...

Proposed tweaks to indexing algorithm

While: 1. the LaunchBar index works very well, 2. there is no doubt a lot of complexity in getting the algorithm right and tweaking it introduces some risk 3. I certainly don't have a complete and accurate algorithm to propose. it seems to me that LaunchBar's indexing can use some tweaking (based on...

Feature Request: Stable index under finder moves

Occasionally, I need to move a folder (i.e., in the Finder or via the command line) that LaunchBar has indexed. As far as I know, LaunchBar currently has no way of knowing that the folder has moved (which might merely be the result of renaming one of the nodes in the file's path). That means that mo...

Feature request: Robust and stable index

I would like LB to support this scenario: 1. Add folder F to custom list. 2. Use LaunchBar, accessing items in folder F via LaunchBar, which updates LB's internal index of items in that folder. 3. Add this folder to the sidebar 4. Delete folder from custom list. (or repeat the above, swapping custom...

Global exclusion filter pattern?

I would like to be able to globally exclude some files from consideration from the LaunchBar index (for example, .skim) files. As far as i can tell, this can just be done on a category by category basis, not on multiple selections or globally. Does anyone have a tip for this? If not, please consider...

Allowing or blocking a domain

Feature request: It would be useful for LittleSnitch to allow one to block or allow an entire domain. Some programs make repeated attempts to access the same domain on different ports. I'd like to OK an entire domain, but not necessarily allow the program to access ports of different servers.

keyboard shortcut for spotlight search

OS X 10.6 has great keyboard shortcut configuration options, but i'd like more. perhaps LB can help out e.g., when doing a search in mail.app. I would like a mouseless way to toggle between search parameters that are available on the search toolbar at the top, i.e., "from", "entire me...
