Re: License upgrades are a scam

@raidersan Is this really the worst thing that have happened you recently? Why so angry? Most business only care about making money, everyone knows that. Just let it be. Don't buy it again. It has caused you more resentment than it is worth it.

Re: "Latest Download" ala Quicksilver?

You don't have to type "Downloads" to get there. Only DW should suffice, if not set an abbreviation to it, L if you want QS feel. Also instead of → you could just press Spacebar, prob quicker. No need for an action.

Re: [former-quicksilver-user] why does a top hit move up and down the list as I type it out?

Have you read the LaunchBar Help? I'm sure it'll clear all your doubts. I understand the confusion you're having, I had same issue when I started using LB. LB was never made to type full-names of files/items, Abbreviations are the an integrate part of the workflow.

You can't have any control over ordering, otherwise it won't be able to fully learn your habits. May I suggest Alfred for you, it's more QuickSilver like?

Re: Double Cmd again to dismiss ?

No. That will never happen. If you're used to other software, use those instead of trying to make LB like them. We're used to LB and want to keep that behaviour. Let me explain why. Let's say you want to get to File myFile.txt, which is in myFolder. The file is not indexed so you've to go to myFolde...

Re: [LB6 Action] Incognito

Thanks, do you mind if I add this to lb6-action repo? It'll be easily accessible, and I also made some changes; you don't have to supply an URL to open a incognito window.

Re: Run LaunchBar from command line

Well yeah, you never pass the selected file in the finder with the command. You would have to do something like: open -a LaunchBar $(osascript 'return (POSIX path of (tell application "Finder" to get selection))') Why are you invoking from command line anyways? Just use the designated shor...

Re: Results sort order

You can't, though this is not a bad idea. You should write to the devs (launchbar (at) obdev.com). You just use the files/actions/whatever, and next time it'll be on the top. So first time you might have type the full name, or at least more than a few letter; then next time a couple letters will suf...

Re: Run LaunchBar from command line

It is the same thing. When you press the shortcut, it does open in the top of current window. Can tell happen when you use the shortcut, and what you expect? You can also use URL commands to open specific thing in LB like, open "x-launchbar:large-type?string=Hello+World" will send string &...

Re: Select range from Clipboard History?

I doubt, the devs will ever let you select an item, and let you scroll it off screen while it still has the focus. As you can see when you scroll, you are essentially pressing the Up/Down arrow keys, the selection moves not the screen/window. If you find yourself getting annoying, you can always loo...

Re: Can Somebody Explain Network Monitor and VPNs

I've noticed that too. I think it might an unsolvable bug. Anyways, openvpn "app" pings the server fairly regularly, so it will almost always be on the top, it's to route to server is working. So when you, let's say refresh a page in Safari, Safari sends request to a server, and LT checks ...

Re: Skype best practise for LittleSnitch

This is a issue, that cannot be solved. I have allowed all connections. There are servers of Microsoft all over the world with hundreds of IPs, and they probably change so there is no way to make rules. I don't mind allowing all though; because I trust Skype to encrypt my data, and not middle with i...

Re: Newbie trick: accidentally re-assigned Abbreviation

You just go to Google Search action, then assign Abbreviation. It changes it back for me. If not just use if few times, it should work. If you REALLY need it instantly, you can change your habits directly in the Applications Support folder. Also why assign GOOGLE to search when a simple G would do.....

Re: open new window insted of changing current one

Yes, there is. It's Preferences (⌘+,) -> Actions -> Options: Untick Show files and folder in current Finder window.
Or run this command in terminal:

Code: Select all

defaults delete -app LaunchBar UseCurrentFileBrowserWindow
