Re: Chrome and 10100.net

A little due diligence on your part would have told you that the domain is owned by markmonitor.com Google is only the registrar of said domain and the company is using google's dns servers. Among the many things markmonitor does is track IPs in torrenting swarms and torrent sites to send to affilia...

Re: A couple of feature requests

I get so many alerts for each page - changing control behavior to allow faster navigation through the 10+ alerts I get would be nice: - alert timer starts immediately, does not turn off with mouse movement or app focus - have a choice of Escape to deny, Return to accept That would allow me to: - de...

Re: A couple of feature requests

Some of the items you are asking for can be accomplished with profiles. example.. profiles: normal updates openvpn In profile normal the apps that do updates (including the apple store and its cohorts) are blocked. select your normal profile, then select all>copy>paste into profile updates. go thru ...

app detection of scripting GUI

On occasion I get a apple notification of something trying to use LS scripting gui. but the notification doesn't tell me which app it is. the banner allows me to close or open LS rules, but it does not tell me which app it is. there is no rule provided. I would like to know which app it is so I can ...

Re: Using with VPN

This is what profiles can be used for. Set up one as a proxy profile with vpn and your bittorent client allowed. Then set up one as a no proxy profile with the bittorent client denied/incoming/outgoing. when the vpn goes down profile switches to no proxy and nothing is passed by the bittorent client...

Re: Network monitoring/extraction?

RLD, are you certain of this? Yep I'm pretty certain of this. Remember she stated she was using the router not a pass through via the Mac computer. Now if their router accepts snmp protocol; and if he had installed snmp on his mac thru mac ports, cask, or finch, then he could read the packets passi...

Re: How do I know what to allow?

Its very subjective. What you feel as a threat another might not. How paranoid and diligent you are. Most people don't understand that when you buy, download, install and use a piece of security software or any software for that matter is that it is up to you the owner to to learn to use it properly...

Re: Applying profile based on schedule / time of day

Sorry I wasn't a lil more specific. By scripting I mean apple script, shell script, or automator workflow. Best way to start is to create a flowchart of how your script should work and then search for snippets of code that would facilitate each step of your flowchart. I see lots of stuff if you do a ...

Re: How to recognise unwanted connections

Port 53 (domain) of 2001:4860:4860::8888 is an IPV6 ip for google's dns server.

don't want to see them turn ipv6 off in your router if available and in your network preferences.

In my opinion IPV6 is not very widely used at present and most ISPs have not implemented IPV6.

Re: Applying profile based on schedule / time of day

Only way this can be currently done is by via scripting. i.e. create a script to poll the time and activate/deactivate a profile at specified times. you would need t create a general block of the services in the main profile and a separate profile to allow the services. Be aware that allowing script...

Re: With LittleSnitch enabled, I cannot reach the server.

I normally use Firefox but for my bank and other such sites I use Safari and noticed the same thing. So I started forcing safari to ask what to do and finally came up with this issue. Instead of using safari.app itself it was using the webkit part of safari. Notice the "via". i.e.... /Appl...

Re: Dropbox block

Sorry I dont have a simple answer for you if you want it to be automatic. Scripting is the only way of I can think of to make an automatic profile switch. As I said I'm not good at the scripting end of it. You can disable the general default rule for dropbox and create a profile that unblocks it and...

Re: Dropbox block

Maybe yer like me and not very good at shell scripting or apple scripting. but it would seem to be the easiest way to do this. try to do some searches on how to do that in goggle. have the script set a flag or ping the phone. if the phone is pingable or the flag is set activate a profile to deny/blo...
