Re: "Disk couldn't be ejected because Launchbar is using it" after High Sierra upgrade

`lsof` tells me that in every case I have checked, it's because LaunchBar has opened the X.app/Contents/Resources/Assets.car file […] That is very interesting, thank you for letting me know. LaunchBar does not itself access these paths, but the system frameworks LaunchBar uses very likely do. For e...

Re: "Disk couldn't be ejected because Launchbar is using it" after High Sierra upgrade

If LaunchBar doesn’t have any files open on the external drive, but macOS is still unable to unmount it because if LaunchBar, that doesn’t make much sense to me. How did you check that LaunchBar has no files open on the volume? This is still something I could not reproduce. And I’m frequently mounti...

Re: Slow search in LaunchBar 6.9.3

Do you see high CPU usage of the lsd process when this happens? If so, I’d say it’s the same issue. But is this reproducibly always when you type the third character or was that just a random example? Does it matter what you type, i.e. does the slowdown only appear when you search for Mail? Does it ...

Re: HomeBrew Users?

@bachjs: I’m afraid, there’s no satisfying answer I can give you right now. Today, Little Snitch rules need an executable’s path to stay the same. In the future, we want to add code signature based rules that allow the path to change. But AFAIK, virtualenv has its own set of problems regarding code ...

Re: Option to disable new "code signature"-related forced alerts?

Sometimes adding overriding rules with "Ignore code signature" turned off works, sometimes it doesn't and Little Snitch re-adds its blocking rule back. Could you please go into more detail? What do you mean by “sometimes it doesn’t work”? Can you create the rules? Are they ignored after y...

Re: Option to disable new "code signature"-related forced alerts?

$ codesign --verify --verbose=4 /Applications/ColorMunki\ Display/ColorMunki\ Display.app /Applications/ColorMunki Display/ColorMunki Display.app: resource envelope is obsolete (version 1 signature) Could it be that the app hasn't been updated in a long time? Apple did change some things related to...

Re: Option to disable new "code signature"-related forced alerts?

If there’s anything I can do to help the developers of these apps, don’t hesitate to contact me or tell them to contact me directly (I can send you my email address via PM if necessary). I’m happy to help.

Re: Option to disable new "code signature"-related forced alerts?

I've had two apps (Undercover 6.6 and Lingon X 6.0) that were denied connections based on an invalid code. […] Little Snitch re-created new rules that were perfectly OK with the new code signature. I suspect the developers might have made changes in their code signatures, though the apps had valid ...

Re: blocking an incoming ip

The best way to answer your questions is probably to try it out yourself. You can use Little Snitch without a license for as long as you like, but some features will turn off after a while, or until you enter a license. The help chapter Incoming Connections should answer your questions. But generall...

Re: Option to disable new "code signature"-related forced alerts?

wacalu and sjthespian, I just updated the troubleshooting section of the online help for Little Snitch 4 to (hopefully) be clearer what is going on in this case. This section tries to explain exactly what happens in the case documented by wacalu’s screenshots: m In these screenshots I can see that t...

Re: Little Snitch falsely showing almost no traffic

When you use your phone’s internet connection, is that just a normal WiFi connection from your Mac’s perspective or is there anything special that you have to do first? For example, is there some kind of VPN involved or a proxy that runs on your Mac? Or is your phone configured as a proxy? Also, ple...

Re: Unsigned apps in 4.0.5 and 4.0.6

[…] you have to remove the code signature requirement on the *via* program. The code signature requirement always affects a process pair , i.e. iTerm2 via svn in your case. What you need is a rule for iTerm2 via svn that ignores the code signature. But this does not affect other rules for just iTer...

Re: A couple of feature requests

In the interim, is there a workaround to simply copy rules that apply to the older version of the app and paste them to the new version. In my case, I have an app that updates very frequently. Within the app contents folder, new versions of the app get a new path to a new folder. That is pretty muc...

Re: Unsigned apps in 4.0.5 and 4.0.6

As Christian wrote, there definitely is a way to tell Little Snitch that you want to ignore the code signature of a particular app or executable. We are aware that this is not easy to find, depending on how the issue presents itself the first time (e.g. Connection Alert vs. Silent Mode). As is very ...
