Re: Search by tags

Just to let you know, the latest LB 6 beta can now play nicely with tags. You can search by tags and also assign tags to items, right inside LB.

Overall it's a great implementation, if you're interested you can request an invite to test LB 6 beta here

Re: Increase Clipboard History to more than 40 items?

keitofu wrote:There is an old trick for that : go to your /home/Library/preference and look for at.obdev.LaunchBar.plist
Open it and you will find "ClipboardHistoryCapacity".
You can change the value here to what you want.

Thanks for the very useful hint!

Re: Integration with Keyboard Maestro

I've had a look through the source code. I think I've got the steps sorted: 1. info.plist : It's the place where it all starts and ends. On line 43 it runs main.php with the user's query as the parameter: /usr/local/bin/php -f main.php -- "{query}" 2. main.php : On line 30 it runs km.scpt ...

Re: Integration with Keyboard Maestro

I'm not beating a dead horse here, I've possibly found something really useful. Someone has integrated KM with Alfred and has open sourced his approach. It might have useful bits that we could use to integrate KM with Launchbar. He seems to be using AppleScript to get the available macros from KM an...

Re: Search Active Webpage?

I guess the easiest way would be to write a small Applescript that would initiate your browser's search functionality. You'd call that action from LB, pass your search string and all it would do would be to call your browser's or your document's app search function and paste the parameter. I'm not f...

Re: Exclude Launchbar from application?

Hm, quiting and relaunching LB so often seems a waste. Since you're already into KM, here's an idea I just had. Create a new macro group in KM, targeted specifically at your music app. In that group, define keyboard shortcuts for the actions you want to safeguard against LB. Then, define the resulti...

Re: copy full information from address book

Yes you can. You can use LB's ClipMerge functionality. It is described in the Help , here's the exact link: ClipMerge . What it does is allow you to copy mutliple items and paste them with one action. So, it's "copy A", "copy B", "copy C" and then "paste A, B, C to...

Re: Exclude Launchbar from application?

Hm, I just thought of a problem with my idea. By the time LB aborts, it will have already intercepted the shortcut intended for the front most app. I'm not sure how you can overcome that. I don't think there's an easy way to "replay" keyboard shortcuts (though I think Keyboard Maestro can ...

Re: Exclude Launchbar from application?

Doesn't LB know what the currently front-most app is? Maybe LB could do a quick test and if the app is black listed then it would abort before it even appeared on screen.

The end user would not see LB at all and it would appear as if it was disabled, right?

Re: Quickly file files into folder (like MsgFiler for Mail)

But manually assigning a custom abbreviation is not really the same :-) I think there really is a case for the kind of extended matching as described. What I cannot test is whether this extended matching will significantly affect the excellent searching that LB has. It is by far the fastest and smoo...

Re: Quickly file files into folder (like MsgFiler for Mail)

So you're asking for LB to match your input against the full path of each entry in the index, not just the ending point, right? For example: ~/One/misc matched directly by " onemisc " ~/Two/misc matched directly by " twomisc " ~/Three/misc matched directly by " threemisc &qu...

Re: Feature Request: Function key to filter Input Window rows

Isn't that the purpose of the Categories functionality? I don't have LB with me right now, so I might be slightly wrong with the wording but: 1. Invoke LB 2. Type Contacts to select the Address Book Contacts smart category 3. Hit Space to enter 4. Type "Jerry" to search only inside your co...

Re: Can't move file from Desktop with Tab

After you've pressed Tab, have you tried typing "desktop" to select it as the target for the move action? I think pressing Tab initially only shows you the programs that can directly handle the item you have selected. Also, have a look in the Launchbar Help for the Instant Send method of s...

Re: Search string? Tying myself in knots...

You don't need to enter the space character when searching. For example, you have both "John Doe" and "John Smith" in your address book. To select the first one, you type " johnd ". To get the second, you type " johns ". Or any other combination of characters ...
