4.1.2 fixed my kernel and my state of mind

So for the past so many weeks, my Mid-2012 Mac Pro seemed like it was starting to lose it's bits. Per-for-mance was con-stant-ly shak-y. The most noticeable behavior was something had possessed my mouse which arbitrarily jumped or skipped after moving the cursor around from here to there. (And I dra...

Outgoing UDP connections from identityservicesd?

Running 10.12.3 and latest LS. Can anyone provide insight as to why identityservicesd attempts to make outgoing connections to private local (non-routable) IP addresses? I've seen LittleSnitch prompt on these every once and awhile over a considerable period of time (at least a year) and as I've grow...

Re: Update and now kernel panic

Borrowed a computer and started researching further. I'm not versed in decoding kernel dumps but the backtrace is pointing back to a kernel extension installed with other 3rd party software which was also updated recently. So I am pursuing that path at the moment but would still appreciate any guida...

Re: Update and now kernel panic

I should have mentioned I am seeing the kernel panic error because I am holding down the shift key on boot. If I don't, it just accepts the login, the screen goes blank and after a few moments the machine reboots itself.

Update and now kernel panic

I applied the 3.7.2 update on my mid-2012 Mac Pro running 10.12.2. Upon the required reboot the machine starts to boot, I get the login prompt because I am running FileVault, and then the machine throws a kernel/CPU panic and immediately stops.

What do I do?

Re: Protected Rules & All Those System Processes

Thanks for this nice write up. I had to chuckle to myself as a lot of these daemons crop up in various online forums where folks are complaining about high CPU utilization or other perceived issue. You could probably share this on Apple's and a dozen other vendor forums to some benefit. One tip rega...

Re: Unstable system, Yosemite+Latest update

FYI, I received an email from ObjDev this morning saying the issue is addressed in a nightly build. I've seen references to these made in other posts so I believe it is ok to share: Hi Brian, I just wanted to let you know that we released a new Little Snitch 3.5 nightly-build (4226) which should tak...

Re: Little snitch - incoming ssh connections problem

FYI, I posted a response to this issue under the thread "Unstable system, Yosemite+Latest update" http://forums.obdev.at/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9417 . Like Aybabtu, I received an update from ObjDev this morning saying this is addressed in the nightly build. However, I am hoping they relea...

Re: Unstable system, Yosemite+Latest update

(Prelude: All, I had reported a problem with LS and incoming port 22 connections to ObjDev on 10/18. I received a response on 10/22 but unfortunately my originally reported suspicions related to a possible DNS correlation seemed to throw off the tech and the answers were off base. I had since confir...

Re: ICMPv6 Incoming no pop-up

It took a considerable amount of search the site, app help, and then searching in this forum to find an older post that clarifies this. I can't think of topic answer/explanation more deserving of a "sticky" in this forum or as addition to the FAQ. PLEASE consider doing so for the benefit o...

Editing multiple rules (find and replace)?

Is there any reasonable trick (not hack) for editing multiple rules at once? I recently employed a web proxy that required me to authorize a gazillion (ok, over a hundred) rules. However, if the proxy server address changes I have to start authorizing all over again or convert all the hostname rules...

LS (2.3.6) & problematic iTunes discovery of Airport Express

For a few months now I've been having a maddening problem with iTunes (currently 10.3.x) being able to connect or discover my Airport Express(es) for AirPlay. In most cases I leave iTunes running all the time and when I would go to the speaker menu to select one it would either not appear or after s...
