How to Unistall from Mac Os X

Postby paulmac » Sat Nov 17, 2007 5:26 am

If you want to uninstall Sharity 3 from your Mac Os X system, here's how:

Open Terminal.
Type "sudo bash" (no quotes)
Enter your password when prompted.
Type "cd /Library/StartupItems"
Type "cp ./Sharity3/uninstall ./uninstall"
Type "./uninstall"

When prompted if you want to uninstall Sharity, type Yes and hit enter.
You'll be prompted for the location of Sharity3.
Accept the default and hit enter.
When the uninstaller quits type: rm uninstall
Close Terminal.

Note:

I also manually removed all the files I could find from everywhere, receipts, library, etc, moved to trash, emptied but error was "sharityd is in use".

it is still in the trash, everything else is gone. i tried using appzapper, everything I could think of but still CIFS is on the desktop and sharityd is in the trash.

what else is needed to get rid of all of these things?

thanks.

If you have moved /Library/StartupItems/Sharity3 to the trash, all you need to do is reboot. Then, if there's still a CIFS folder in the root of your drive, do

sudo rmdir /CIFS

That should do the trick.

We recommend that you uninstall Sharity with our script instead of moving it to the trash. This script takes care of some other details, too. Our recommended procedure is slightly different than what was explained above:

(1) Open a Terminal window. Terminal.app is at /Applications/Utilities.
(2) Type (or even better: copy/paste):
sudo /Library/StartupItems/Sharity3/uninstall
(3) Enter your password when you are asked for it.

The script will then ask a couple of trivial questions. If you are not sure, choose the default. When it completes, Sharity is removed completely from your system.
