Skype AppleScripts

Postby Dennis » Thu Mar 13, 2008 6:45 pm

I've been using Skype a lot recently and wrote a few AppleScripts to interact with my calls using LaunchBar. For example, you can hang up, mute, or put calls on hold from LaunchBar instead of having to bring Skype to the front. This is especially useful if you use a script to dial Skype numbers from your Address Book using LaunchBar (see "Dialing Phone Numbers" in the LaunchBar Help).

To use, download and unzip the scripts, then place them in ~/Library/Scripts/Applications/Skype/ (where ~ is your username).

LaunchBar-Skype Scripts Collection Updated

Postby Dennis » Thu May 08, 2008 7:05 pm

At markn's request, I've added two new scripts to my LaunchBar-Skype Scripts: Answer Skype Call and Decline Skype Call. The complete collection now includes:
  1. Answer Skype Call
  2. Decline Skype Call
  3. Hang Up Skype Call
  4. Hold Skype Call
  5. Resume Skype Call
  6. Skype Mute Off
  7. Skype Mute On
  8. Toggle Skype Mute

You can download the LaunchBar-Skype Scripts collection (along with a variety of other scripts) at:

I hope you find them useful. And, as always, please let me know if you run into problems or have any suggestions.

I've updated my collection of Skype scripts to include several new scripts for controlling Skype user status with LaunchBar. The collection now contains 15 scripts.

There's a status script for each Skype state, so you can pull up an individual script in LaunchBar and change Skype to that state. Or you can use the generic "Set Skype Status" script, which provides a little selection list with all the Skype user states in one spot. Use whichever best fits your workflow.

I hope you find them useful. And, as always, please let me know if you run into problems or have any suggestions.

Hi, I need a broadband connection in Sydney, Australia that I can use for VOIP. The broadband connection will be for a home internet connection for my family, I mother and brother, but we need to save money on phone bills. The internet connection itself will not be used for too much but it would be nice to have a bit to play with for downloading music, theatrical trailers etc, and still be able to make cheap phone calls all month. Can you suggest me the best broadband and VOIP combination in Sydney Australia?
